Melissa Gorga Attempts to “Jolie the Leg” or is She Copying Jennifer Lopez, Again?

At the 2012 Oscars, while presenting the Oscar for best adapted screenplay, Angelina Jolie assumed a position that exposed her right leg via the slit in her Atelier Versace gown. It was a move that she had already busted out on the Oscar red carpet, as well as one that has inspired its own Twitter feed (@AngiesRightLeg).

When Jim Rash — along with his fellow winners in the adapted screenplay category, Alexander Payne and Nat Faxon — rose to accept the award for “The Descendants”, the motivation to mimic came over him.

“It was just an impulse,” he told the Washington Post at the Governors Ball. “I hope it was okay. I hope she thought it was okay. It was a loving tribute.”

It’s unclear whether Jolie thought it was loving or not. But was it funny to many of the people watching the Oscars at home? That’s a definite yes.

Betty White did the move on her show, “Hot in Cleveland,” in April 2012: Preparing for an upcoming fashion show on, White’s character Elka solicits runway walking advice from Victoria (Wendie Malick) and Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli) before her big debut. Victoria’s best advice on how to wow the crowd? Offer a “bored look to the audience and ‘Jolie’ the leg,” she advises Elka.

“Elka, you look like you’d rather be anywhere other than here right now. Great job!” Victoria says as White, 90, vamps in character.

Jolie’s thigh-flashing moment became an internet sensation and photoshoppers had a field day with it!
