UPDATE 1/11/2014: Not only didn’t Melissa Gorga make the New York Times Best Sellers List for her book, ‘Love Italian Style: The Secrets of My Hot and Happy Marriage, but Entertainment Weekly named it the worst non-fiction book for 2013 – they wrote that it read like a misogyny manual, mentioning, of course, Joe Gorga advocating marital rape.

It’s no surprise that Melissa Gorga’s book didn’t make the New York Times Best Sellers List. After receiving scathing reviews from online source because her book promotes marital rape, Melissa wrote a blog for Bravo defending her tome. Now she’s singing a different (off-key) tune.

In an interview on October 7, 2013 (video) with Carrie Keagan of VH1’s Big Morning Buzz, Melissa compared herself to Miley Cyrus, asserted she “wanted controversy” to ramp up sales of her book, and claimed that “her plan worked!”

Controversy may be surrounding her book, but it hasn’t help ramp up sales. Love Italian Style is ranked #3,136 on with a rating of 2 stars or less.

As of October 8, 2013, Melissa’s book sales on for Love Italian Style (per are 263 hardcover copies and 940 Kindle copies for a total of 1203 (image above).

In comparison, as of October 8, 2013, Caroline sold 623 hardcover plus 105 Kindle copies of her book, Let Me Tell You Something, for a total of 729 on; and Teresa sold 462 paperback copies of her cookbook, Fabulicious!: On the Grill on

Melissa’s abysmal book sales are proof that she buys Facebook fans (370,000) and twitter followers (720,000). If her followers were real, and if only 10% of them bought her book, she would have made the Best Sellers’ list. Real fans buy stuff, fake fans don’t.

“All of these Real Housewives twitter accounts are inflated with fake followers. NBC Universal buys them all hundreds of thousands of followers to make them seem popular. Go check out to see what these Real Housewives show pull in, in terms of viewership each week. Reality TV is fake as shit.” – Johnny, September 8, 2013, Fame-Whorgas
