Do the Manzo Boys Actually Work for a Living? Little Town NJ Opens for Business in Hoboken

April 20, 2013

“Little Town will operate just fine without you.” – Chris Laurita to Albie and Christopher Manzo, Season 5 Episode 11

“What Caroline Manzo really wanted to talk about was her son’s new restaurant and daughter’s store: ‘It’s called Little Town and it’s opening in Hoboken at the end of April and its all the best of New Jersey and everything is farmed in New Jersey. Lauren’s working hard at her store. It’s celebrating its one-year anniversary. They’ve got me hopping’.” [NaughtyButNiceRob, April 8, 2013]

“Caroline was made an offer to return and declined — it is possible she is waiting for a bigger offer ($$) or has something up the pipelines. She had only participated in season 4 so that her children would get exposure for their business ventures. She knew it (being a Real Housewife) would one day end, so she made sure her children had established themselves in their own businesses. I don’t like to have personal feelings about cast, but I do admire her — she had a plan going into season 3, and that was to use this platform to assist in setting up her children financially.” [Former RHONJ Post Production Supervisor, September 17, 2012]

Albie and Christopher Manzo have “partnered” with New York City-based restaurateurs Michael Sinensky and Sean McGarr (who also own Little Town New York) to open a new restaurant in Hoboken called Little Town New Jersey (310 Sinatra Drive). The Manzo boys don’t actually run the restaurant — they are compensated for marketing the place using their “celebrity images.” Albie and Christopher live at 333 River Street, which is above the restaurant, so all they have to do is stop by the restaurant for occasional appearances, and their “fans” will buy them drinks for the privilege of hanging out with them.

Reality TV stars Albie and Chris Manzo — of Real Housewives of New Jersey fame — have teamed up with the Village Pourhouse owners to open a new eatery in Hoboken. Little Town NJ, at 310 Sinatra Dr., is slated to open April 9, and the Manzo brothers aim to give the new restaurant some New Jersey flair by using their mom Caroline Manzo’s recipes for the brunch buffet and Sunday Gravy on weekends. Little Town NJ, which incorporates a farmer’s market area where local farmers display their produce, is the third location of Manhattan’s Little Town NYC, owned by Michael Sinensky and Sean McGarr — who also own the Village Pourhouse on First Street in Hoboken. The much-anticipated opening had been scheduled for early November, but superstorm Sandy KO’d those plans. [NJ.com reports the grand opening is scheduled for April 9th]

The Manzo boys are not owners/operators of Little Town NJ — they have nothing to do with the daily operations of the restaurant. This is the type of deal the Wakiles were hoping for — Richie explained it in season 3 episode 7 or 8 (and when they talked to Al Manzo about opening a restaurant, he laughed in their faces).

Albie and Christopher were guest bartenders for a Hurricane Sandy fundraiser at the restaurant in November 2012. Their mother Caroline has provided the recipe for her Italian-American gravy featured on the brunch buffet and “Sunday Gravy” on weekends.

Even in a write up for the opening, “lending their names” is used to describe Albie’s and Christopher’s association with the restaurant:

The Manzo brothers are not just lending their names and heritages. Don’t be surprised to see them in the kitchen, behind the bar – or even dining in! “I can’t wait for those doors to open,” says 26-year-old Albie, who recently got his bartending card. “This is the first brick and mortar spot that we have been a part of … It’s really a lot of fun to go in there, to see how far it’s come … It’s kind of the best situation for us to get into. We really can’t get yelled at if we go out because we’re at Little Town, and we’re still at work.” And when Season 5 of “Real Housewives” premieres later this year, fans all over the world will get a glimpse at the restaurant. Who knows, maybe Giudice will even flip a table there! “We’re going to feature it definitely” on the upcoming season, says Chris. “The one thing we do on ‘Housewives’ is we film our reality. Viewers are really going to get attached to it the way we have.”

The Manzo boys don’t actually work at Little Town NJ — they just make guest appearances as “celebrities” to promote the business and, of course, they can stop by any time to eat and drink for free. You have to wonder how much longer they can milk this reality TV fame.

Albie and Chris explain it best in the following interview from NJ.com.

The Manzo brothers are following in the footsteps of their parents, Albert and Caroline Manzo, who own the Brownstone in Paterson.

“We will see,” Albie, 26, said when asked about the new restaurant getting air time this season. “The cameras follow our life, and this is a big part of our life, so we will see what ends up making the show.

“We are really excited. If it is portrayed on the show it will be a lot of fun to watch, because you will see this thing coming along. You will see what it was like when Sandy hit and what it is today. ”

Little Town NJ was expected to open in November, but superstorm Sandy put a hold on those plans when Hoboken suffered extensive damage.

The Hoboken restaurant is owned jointly by the Manzo brothers and the owners of two Manhattan’s Little Town NYC eateries, Michael Sinensky and Sean McGarr, who also own the Village Pourhouse on First Street in Hoboken.

No restaurant owned by Manzos would be complete without something from the Brownstone menu. Family matriarch Caroline Manzo has provided the recipe for her “authentic hard-core” Italian-American Sunday gravy.

“We had that smell every Sunday and we could pig out on home-cooked Italian meals. I am sure we are not the only one missing that,” Chris said. “We are lucky that we can go home in a second and we are bringing that to everyone else.”

The partnership with Sinensky and McGarr grew out of a friendship that dates back to when the brothers flew the coop in Franklin Lakes to experience living on their own in Hoboken in November 2010.

The brothers started to hang out out at The Village Pourhouse and the four became friends “doing karaoke,” business partner Sinensky recalled.

“I noticed because they’re on TV, a lot of people try to buy them shots, so sometimes I get a free round when they’re tipsy,” Sinensky said.

After opening two Little Town restaurants in New York, McGarr and Sinensky were looking to open a restaurant across the Hudson with a focus on “all things New Jersey.”

“We mentioned the idea on LTNJ and they were ecstatic about it,” Sinensky said. “We couldn’t ask for better partners than Chris and Al for LTNJ. Their shared passion for supporting local mom-and-pop (shops) is what has made this such a great relationship.”

When McGarr and Sinensky leased the commercial space at the former Quays Restaurant & Bar — the ground floor of the building in which the Manzo brothers live — the deal was sealed.

“When they told us they found this space the stars couldn’t have been more aligned,” Chris said. “When I found out I could use my own bathroom I said ‘I’m in’.”

Despite their hectic schedules with the “blk” water venture they launched in June 2011, and filming for RHONJ, the brothers say they will be spending a good deal of time at the restaurant.

“I love what we are doing with blk water and I love Little Town,” Albie said. “I never feel personally as though I am working. It’s the type of place we are going to want to be whether it’s behind the bar, having dinner or sweeping the floor. It’s the type of place we are going to want to spend all of our time.”

Having grown up in restaurants, Chris says he is even more enthusiastic about the new restaurant than his other project.

“For me, doing blk, I love it. We all have a great time there, but it is work at the end of the day. You are dealing with a lot of corporate people you are making a lot of phone calls,” Chris said. “I look forward to the restaurant craziness.

“It is almost relaxing to me in some kind of twisted way,” he added. “It brings you back to your childhood. This is what we did when we were 16. If there was a problem at bar at the Brownstone I would get a call and I am there. When I was 18 we were out to dinner with five friends. There was a problem with all the valets at once and there were 200 cars. My dad said ‘I know you are not a valet, but get over here.’ We had to figure it out. It kind of brings us back to how we were raised. It’s going to be really fun for me.”

And the fact that the siblings spend every waking minute with each other does not worry them.

“We are with each other every minute,” Albie said. “We are really at this point morphing into the same person. It is not that we are putting up with each other’s stuff. We know what makes each other tick. We get along great. It is just an extension of yourself at this point.”

Once the restaurant opens, it’s almost a guarantee that their parents will drop in unannounced. Now empty-nesters at their home in Franklin Lakes, Albert and Caroline Manzo have a new place in uptown Hoboken, where they stay two or three days a week trying out life in the city.

“I think they kind of like it,” Chris said. “They don’t even tell us when they are town though.”

The official grand opening of Little Town NJ, with the formal ribbon-cutting and VIP guests, was on April 18, 2013.

If you attend, you’ll have the pleasure of meeting founder Micheal Sinensky and Sean McGarr, along with their celebrity partners Manzo brothers Albie & Chris.

Skerry Jones tweeted that he invested in this with Chris and Albie.

I do beleive they are very much involved in this.. Isn’t ” partnered up/ invested” same as part owners?

    Anyway good for them.

Also this has got to be better than shlocking that BLK crap. I know it’s all over the US and in some other countries now, but seriously, does the stuff sell?? I mean enough for these guys to make a living?

Anything is better than blk. What is chris sr. doing to make money beside blk which was the dumbest idea ever.

        • April 20, 2013 at 5:36 PM

That is a great question Gemini, I’m sure they can’t meet an 10,000 mortgage plus all of their other bills from blk.

I don’t believe it; it’s more slacker bullshit. They think they are “celebrities” and will use that fleeting “fame” to NOT work. At this point, those two do not know HOW to work, exactly like their stuffed-sausage sister.

    • April 20, 2013 at 10:19 PM

I read the two main investors were Michael Sinensky and Sean McGarr. Michael is the gentleman in the plaid shirt in the link below.

I believe if the Manzo boys own any part of this restaurant, it is a very small part. I believe they are being paid for the PR. Someone who commented on an article, (wish I could find it again) said they were being paid for the PR and get free food and drinks. The Manzo boys’ apartment is also in the same building as the restaurant.

There were two separate events a private tasting, which the housewives attended and the “by invite only” party, the evening before the grand opening day.

I remember reading an article by a food critic a few days before the grand opening event.

Until Albie and Chris Manzo, or this Michael and Sean state that these guys have zero financial ties to this resturant., and are just promoting this place. I stand by all my posts on this subject. If I am wrong, I will say I was wrong.
I beleive the people saying that they are just promoting, etc, are just bloggers , commentators giving their opinions, not actual facts.

I’m no fan of these guys @ lucille, but I do think they have real jobs. Both with BLK,and now with this resturant. I don’t think either one of these guys are lazy, now Lauren, yea up until Mommy went into business with her, she was lazy.

Speaking of Mommy, Caroline really needs to do something with her hair. I think it looked much better and fuller when she wore it short. It lookes very thin with it longer and is flat to her head. I would think since her daughter owns a salon she could do something with it. jmo

        • April 20, 2013 at 6:15 PM

I didn’t like it real short( like first season) but when she was growing it out it looked nice. Now it’s too long, her hair is too fine/ thin to wear it that long, and I agree her color is very drab.

Caroline is a bad advertisement for lauren’s business which is the beauty business If lauren does her hair and makeup then she sucks. If lauren does not do caroline’s hair and make, then you are wondering why not? Either way caroline does not look good and one can assume that lauren is not a good makeup artist.

IMO that’s what happens when you force a career on your child. I never sensed any interest in the beauty biz from either Lauren or Caroline. Tre personifies that you are your brand 24/7 . Caroline is going for the bookish intellectual author look but she looks better with short hair.

Well ya know Gessie , I have to agree. Books about great parenting from a mother who taught her children that ugliness and entitlement are the keys to success? You can’t buy your way into heaven and you cannot fake being an authority on parenting. Same with the Gorgas. Tell me about having a great marriage when and only when the spark is still there after kids, high times and low times , good times and has times, when you have worried about dating, university choices and how you are going to pay for it all including the weddings, when you are brought low by disappointment and the occasional failure and you still love laying your head down on the pillow next to his every night.

I’m not clear about who actually owns the business and am curious what a partnership involves. I’m not sure if a true restaurant chef appreciates novices in his kitchen putzing around. To many cooks spoil the broth? It sounds as if the Manzo boys are window dressing and not full fledged partners. Again a restaurant business is a lot of hard work and not a hobby business.

    • holy cannoli
      April 20, 2013 at 3:03 PM

I think Micheal S and Sean M own the actual name, Little Town I think the Manzo Boys invested in/ partnered up with these guys and opened up Little Town NJ. It’s not unusual for resturanturs to have partners epsecially when they are going ground up like this, new local new buliding. Lots of money.
I get that these opinions are Fames ^^^, but until these guys say that The Manzo boys have not invested, and are only the ‘faces’ of this resturant, I still stand by my opinion, they invested and are very much part owners and will be very involved and work.

      • April 20, 2013 at 3:19 PM

I agree holy. All of the press junkets say “partners”. That to me indicates some level of financial investment. I don’t see them truly cooking in the kitchen, but they might expedite. I definitely could see them behind the bar working the customers. They have the knowledge from the Brownstone on ordering, prep, cleaning, dealing with inspections, waiting and bussing tables etc. I say good for them as I think it’s a good fit. I love trying new restaurants, I would go once if I lived close for the concept of the restaurant not to see the Manzos.

Melissa’s shirt is actually a dress andit is too short. One you are a mother, their are certain things you should not wear and that dress is one of them (only because it is too short). Another thing, melissa’s face is very pretty far away, she should not take close up pictures. Same with jac, they look great far away but in close up pictures, you can tell they had to much done to their face. That close up pictures with teresa, melissa, jac, the only one who looks normal face wise is teresa(it looks like the face she was born with).

Little Town NJ is a franchise of the two restaurants on NYC and Albie and Chris Manzo are co-owners. Now, how they were able to become co-owners – that is the question but it certainly didn’t hurt that they were Bravolebrities. What exactly their investment is, no one really knows – but every article pulled up from NJ Patch, Hoboken print, et al. refer to them as co-owners. Some of the articles do say they add “star presence” but also say co-owners. Perhaps Mom and Dad has helped out financially and no doubt, Big Al’s experience would be coming into play too. They also have the backing of the owners of the NY restaurants who could be helping them out as I am sure those owners would want the same quality and atmosphere with a NJ twist in order to keep up their own reputation.

One thing I will say because it is only fair, while I do not like the Manzo family as a whole unit, I do think that the boys have worked hard to get this restaurant up and running. Hoboken was hit badly by Super Storm Sandy – they would have had to work hard just to get through the muck and mire mess, destruction, and red tape. I feel that, while their celebrity helped play a role in them opening Little Town and personally I wouldn’t frequent it, this is finally a legitimate business for Caroline’s boys. I wonder if they will be hands-on and manage it on a daily basis or just hire people to do that for them.

Isn’t it interesting most people refer to Albie and Chris Manzo as “boys” instead of “men” or at the very least, “young men”?!?!?!!! Unfortunately, their mother has created that image of them both and it will be very hard to dispel

    • holy cannoli
      April 20, 2013 at 5:13 PM

I referred to Little Town as a small franchise also on another Blog after all they only have what 2 resturants in NY. I do agree and have stated several times that The Manzo Boys are co owners of Little Town NJ. I think they did invest monies,( there has been no proof saying they haven’t) I do think possibly their parents might have helped out, they did Lauren so it would make sense that they would help Albie and Chris.

I really think the whole Manzo and Laurita family is invested in BLK, plus I have always had a feeling that The Gorgas and Walkies invested in it also( just a feeling). I wonder if they ( Chris Laurita ) ever asked Teresa and Joe to invest and they didn’t and maybe that caused some problems and that was some of the reasons for Cracker Jac to go after Teresa.

      • gemini82
        April 20, 2013 at 7:32 PM

You might have a point about everybody investing in blk except for teresa/juicy. They probably thought that it was a dumb idea and told the lauritas that they didn’t have the money which would explain why jac was all in on teresa having an expensive bag when it is clearly none of her business what teresa spends her money on. You know if teresa had invested in blk that she would have work her butt off to promote it (which could be any reason they wanted the guidices to invest). If the Chris laurtia is depending on jac to promote blk, then it really will not get anywhere because jac does not have any ambition or fire.

Hey, I just slice some orange, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, mango and pineapple into a pitcher I add mineral water and buala, I have a healthy and refreshing drink, I don’t drink soda anymore (I am trying to lose a lot of weight I put on over the years, I use to be a size 4, don’t ask me what I am now lol) so no need to buy all those “fancy” waters out there, and sorry but blk water for me it looks nasty, just IMO 🙂

I didn’t buy that shit. A friend of mine did thinking since I watched Bravo. I hear ya tho. I eat and drink with my eyes first… If ya know what I mean…lol.

My educated guess is Dina divorced the Manzo bro and that signaled that the boys would not ever be taking over the Brownstone. Also wouldn’t be surprised if there were any sizeable investment in another restaurant it came out of mommy and daddy’s pockets. The sudden move to Hoboken when you own a very large house in the burbs? What middle aged fuddy duddies suddenly crave the hipster lifestyle? Sorry if I offended anyone but Caroline is the old school Italian momma ( in her mind anyway!) and she isn’t exactly comfortable anywhere but home. She bitched and pissed and moaned on every single trip she has ever been on. My God she can be a miserable cow with all the whingeing and carrying on. So IMO, bet a very pretty penny she and Big Al want to helicopter over the boys and their investment. Thus the 2 or 3 days a week in Hoboken.

          Dere Aint,

Hi I remember somewhere that Albert was not listed as the owner of the Brownstone anymore. Also there was a class action suit filed by the employee’s of the Brownstone for not paying their employee’s proberly.

Fame could you look into this. If i find the information I will post it here.

          Very interesting.

I took myself off twitter again. I will never go back. If I don I will follow nothing to do with housewives. It has gotten too mean, too dark, and very ugly. I will sick with Fame for all relevent information.

      April 20, 2013 at 7:37 PM

I read it Shannon – I am glad he “set the record straight” about the phone call.

Unfortunately, I wish it had been done in a different venue. Faux is a huge supporter of his (as I am) but in the grand scheme of things, and through no fault of hers – while she is trying to help him, Faux’s exposure as a blogger and on Twitter is very small when you think about the numbers of the viewers and the general public. I just don’t think enough people will hear about it. But they will remember the articles that were written claiming that he is “Mike”. And once that episode airs, it’s all going to surface again. I want Bryan vindicated after he was accused by the Three Stooges of “selling out” – because I believe he did not sell that story to Life & Style.

      • Aint Pittypat
        April 20, 2013 at 7:44 PM

        • Jeannie5233
          April 20, 2013 at 7:58 PM

I don’t know and that is what worries me. Like I said, what Faux is doing for him is great and supportive but I don’t think it will get enough exposure. Too much out there about the phone call being really Bryan – it was covered on more mainstream blogs and internet media as well as that article in L & S. And he really is between a rock and a hard place because if he were to go to a more mainstream venue then the accusations of him selling his story will start all over again. I just wish more people could get to know the real story of Bryan – the whole story. I don’t so much care about the exposure of Melissa any more but I do care about his reputation – this man has been through hell, fought so hard to win back his life, and is now going through a life threatening illness, which from the little I can tell, is quite the roller coaster for him. And he does this with such a positive attitude and grace. Melissa is who she is and I think most people see the real her but with Bryan – I don’t know – I am just afraid people, the general public, are not going to be too easy on him, without knowing the real story. Which, for me, is a shame because he fully owns his life – the good and the bad – where Melissa does not. I am afraid she will come out of it okay and he will be made to look a fool. I hope not.

Thanks Jeanie. I have read his tweets , second hand of course, and realized very quickly that he is fighting for his life. Frankly his grace under pressure and perserverance make a far better story than the fake , over sexed Gorgas. Aint Pittypat it always seems that I piggyback off of you, sorry! But, your post’s are usually what I’m thinking! It does seem like Mel gets repulsed at Joey when he talks/acts dirty! Even when Joey touches her she seems like, ‘Please, No!’. If you look at some pics earlier in their marriage I get the feeling Mel doesn’t want Joey to touch her. I see Mel using sex as a way to control Joey. It’s like she’s playing hard to get, but really she is repulsed by Joey and sex is ‘work’ for her to get what she wants. It might explain why Joey seems attached to the hip with Mel when she has a ‘job’ singing. Joey has to notice Mel pulling away from him when he wants to touch her? Then again, Joey, isn’t too bright!

The t-shirt/dress Mel has on screams, ‘NOTICE ME’! The first thing that came to my mind when I seen her dress was, ‘I wonder how many people she ‘accidently’ flashed?’. I do admit Mel has a nice figure, but she chooses to reveal her body by looking like a street whore! She also dresses like a single woman looking for a date, not a mother of three!

ITA, she and Joey do.not seem all that enthralled with one another. When they engage in gorgaplay it just looks forced. I don’t sense any genuine chemistry between them. I do sense chemistry between Jax and Chris, Juicy and Tre and a comfortable familiarity between the Don and Big Al. The rest are faking it and it shows.

Ok, it is late and I am really brain foggy today (the Lyme’s), but isn’t there a monster or something in mythology called a gorgan? Wait, wasn’t Medusa a gorgon? Never mind that says everything that needs to be said on the subject. Seriously, has she ever read a book? I really think Medusa was a gorgon. Very very fitting. Really could not be more appropriate. I would die of embarrassment now if I was her.

Oh my gosh elemcee!! You are right! Here is part of an article about Gorgons from Wikipedia:

“In Greek mythology, a Gorgon (plural: Gorgons) (ancient Greek: Γοργών or Γοργώ Gorgon/Gorgo) is a female creature. The name derives from the ancient Greek word gorgós, which means “dreadful.” While descriptions of Gorgons vary across Greek literature and occur in the earliest examples of Greek literature, the term commonly refers to any of three sisters who had hair of living, venomous snakes, and a horrifying visage that turned those who beheld her to stone. Traditionally, while two of the Gorgons were immortal, Stheno and Euryale, their sister Medusa was not, and she was slain by the mythical demigod and hero Perseus.

Gorgons were a popular image in Greek mythology, appearing in the earliest of written records of Ancient Greek religious beliefs such as those of Homer, which may date to as early as 1194–1184 BC. Because of their legendary and powerful gaze that could turn one to stone, images of the Gorgons were put upon objects and buildings for protection. An image of a Gorgon holds the primary location at the pediment of the temple at Corfu, which is the oldest stone pediment in Greece, and is dated to c. 600 BC.”

When it comes to “Family Matters”, it’s all about “Family Ties”. It really should be “All in the Family” but some people just can’t control themselves.

Caroline believes it is “Mama’s Family” as she portrays herself as the head of it, not recognizing it really should be her parents who are the patriarch and matriarch. It most definitely is not “Family Guy” as Al has little say in what goes on – she runs the show with her “my way or the highway” mentality. Unfortunately, that makes it become more like the “Addams Family” rather than the “Partridge Family”.

Yes, folks, this is not what one would call a “Modern Family”, but it certainly is “No Ordinary Family”. While they try to present a front of cohesiveness and support for one and other (ahem), in reality, there is a lot of “Family Feud” going on.

Well, Gordon Ramsay could be making appearances at the Golden Nugget on Fremont Street as well as limited appearances at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City!

      • April 21, 2013 at 10:48 PM

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe Chris and Albie have a long lost cousin named Gordan Ramsey who makes his living by booking himself out for guest appearances to people who can’t spell teehee.

I just gotta say….why does Caroline feel that she MUST set her children up in a career? I have two children and they are pursuing their OWN careers without my help. I wonder if Caroline thought she was going to be able to employ both her sons in the family business (the Brownstone), but then found out she couldn’t afford it?

If “the boys” have a financial stake in LTNJ, I would bet it isn’t much and that the money came out of mommy and daddy’s pocket. I hope they really DO sweep the floors, and work in the kitchen, but I’m pretty sure they won’t. They will probably want to be behind the bar, or hosting or any of the other ‘fun’ jobs in the front of the house-but they really need to develop a SKILL because they’re almost 30 and still at momma’s teet.

I’m going to beg my daughter to go there with her roommates one of these days LOL

        • April 21, 2013 at 11:44 PM

I’m like Caroline in that I want to set my child up to succeed, but she has to work for it (though she is a bit spoiled). She’s 21, still lives at home, has chores (and my husband still gives her 20 bucks a weeks — it’s her mad money), she has a PT job (she mucks stalls — shitty job especially in AZ in the summer) and saves most of the money and uses some to buy her clothes and what groceries she wants. She goes to college, the 1st year was rough as I think she was too immature and not ready for it, but she’s doing great now and getting all A’s and B’s. She’s finishing up her AS and is on the wait list for the Radiology program that will have her certified in ultrasounds, x-rays and something else.

I’d like to think the difference between me and Caroline is that I enable my daughter to choose to succeed, but she has to do it herself. Caroline gave her kids everything.

          • April 22, 2013 at 12:11 AM

oh I’ve definitely helped my children financially until they graduated from college, but they had to work during the summer, keep their grades up and prove that they were serious about whatever they were studying. Caroline acts as if her children are incapable of finding their own way without mommy leading the way.

My kids were told they were on the four year plan for college and they would have to work while going to school for spending and clothes. In exchange we paid tuition, room and board. They had to support their car and phone as well. They completed their four years, lived out on their own, and went on to earn their master’s paying for it themselves. In emergency, we would help them out and we paid for them to come on family vacations. Other than that, they have earned pretty much everything they have today on their own. I am very proud to be their mom as they are assets to society

My opinion is based on the fact that my hubs has quite a few restaurant clients in his practice and I apologize for coming across as stubborn but it takes massive amounts of cash to partner in a restaurant like this. Start up cost alone would easily run quarter to half a million. These startups bleed cash the first year . Smart move to involve the boys if they have that kind of money and are genuinely popular among Hoboken residents. They are among the target demographic. I suppose I am a skeptic but I doubt the boys are partners but were taken on in hopes of the restaurant serving as premises for location shots and part of the boys pitch to Bravo for a spin-off. The writing on the wall spells faux to me. The boys are probably trying to market themselves as hip urban singles and tight Italian brothers working hard to launch their own business. The problem with the Manzo boys is they have been handed so much materially and they don’t have the grit and drive their dad has. Plus their blatant lack of charisma and humor. I have very personal knowledge of what happens when kids from a successful family of restauranteurs work in the family business and the Manzo boys probably worked at the Brownstone when it suited them. My apologies but IMO , mommy and daddy cannot buy success for you. Most genuinely successful entrepreneurs are hard working bootstraps kind of people.

I agree Aint regarding start up costs of a restaurant like that. Perhaps they have a very, very small percentage? Let’s face it, it wouldn’t be such a stretch for the lovely folks of NJ to embellish a wee bit.

I’m on Internet rations at the moment BUT I read an article in which the Manzo Boys themselves stated they didn’t have financial interest in the restaurant. I wish I could pull it up. It’s on one of the threads here. They’ve been employed as the face of – in a set up capacity. Basically glorified managers by the sounds of things cashing in on RHONJ. Fair enough that they are using their notoriety but I find it quite annoying. I wanted to watch a housewives show – not children profiting off Mummy. I’m sure I’m not the only one – there is such a thing as negative attention and market saturation. I feel like they are taking this project on much as they did the original BLK, claiming it as their own, giving the impression it’s their baby when in actuality it ‘s not. At least with someone like Teresa, she doesn’t pretend that she’s anything but a spokes person and gives credit where due. These guys talk like inventors.

          • April 20, 2013 at 10:25 PM

I posted this in a response to the first comment on this article.

            • April 20, 2013 at 10:31 PM

Sorry, I forgot to point this out.

“When McGarr and Sinensky leased the commercial space at the former Quays Restaurant & Bar — the ground floor of the building in which the Manzo brothers live — the deal was sealed.”

Thanks Moma. Very helpful information. Imagine if the restaurant can be featured on RHONJ. National exposure that the owners probably couldn’t afford so it might be worth it to them to use the boys as shills for free booze and food.

                • April 20, 2013 at 11:35 PM

I think the restaurant will be featured, something I read about the grand opening being postponed because of filming issues.

As I have stated before, I love the concept of the restaurant, local products, local dishes. I will be in the NY/NJ area later this year and hope to dine there. If I thought the Manzo boys owned at least 1/4 of this, I would skip it. I believe they are being paid for the PR or given food and drinks, could be both. In my opinion if they own any of it, it is a very, very small portion. Talking crumbs here.

That’s because you are an awesome parent who raised a wonderful man. An ambitious , hard working young man who clearly knows you have to work hard to be a success. You didn’t hand him his dreams on a silver platter. Now no matter what obstacles he encounters he will have all the tools to surmount them. Guess who gave him the tools? You did!

@Sackem, I have heard you mention internet rations a couple of times. Can you explain why you have limited internet use? just curious, never heard of this before. Understand if you don’t want to explain do to you’re rations.

While the internet in Australia is fine, your internet is apparently faster and cheaper. At the moment I’m away from home where we’ve got a really good package for speed and price so I’m either hotspotting my iPhone which chews through alot of data or using a wifi dongle which is turing out to be expensive – $50 for 3 gig! 3 gig is nothing and I seem to be able to burn through that in a week so I’m “rationing” my internet time ie trying to be a bit responsible and survive on a small amount over a longer time which is hard for me because “I am a material girl living in a material world” !

my theory: the boys were given a place to live rent free (the apt over the restaurant) and a small percentage of the ownership in lieu of a big salary for what basically translates to marketing the restaurant using their waning fame.

Had a moment of clarity. What other storyline can the boys have if not this convenient pairing. Chris is pitching blk so….. And can someone please remind me why Caroline’s children are part of the show? Are the boys and Lauren housewives? Aren’t they out on their own . Would be more interested in a show about housewives not 20 something’s trying to -gasp- find their way in the world with an open line of credit and access to Dads wallet and mommy’s checkbook. The boys are just baggage. I didn’t watch Jersey Shore so please stop cramming the Manzoids down our throats.

    • April 21, 2013 at 12:16 AM

I think they got popular before they started bashing Teresa and I believe were even offered their own spinoff but Punta Cana put an end to it- another theory on why Caroline went after Teresa. I think they may have done some webespodes based on them living out of home.

The crazy thing is staff have commented that Andy thinks the Manzos are popular and no doubt characters in their own right. I just find them to be obnoxious.

      • April 21, 2013 at 12:33 AM

I agree as I liked them S1 and S2 and then the tides in S3 for me. I can’t stand the Manzo’s as they are condescending and snobbish!

          April 21, 2013 at 10:54 PM

I, too, liked the Manzo ‘boys’ during S 1&2. By the end of the 3rd season I could see right through them. I felt sorry for Lauren, until S 3. Now, all 3 of Caroline’s spawn disgust me! Especially, Lauren, she has no class and acts like trailor park trash with money! Lauren still makes me SMH when she told Tre that ‘dick heads like her are the reason why teenager’s commit suicide!’. It was so hypocritical of Lauren to refer to Tre as a bully when that is exactly what her and her mommy’s friends were doing to Tre! Arrogance isn’t pretty!

    • April 21, 2013 at 10:10 AM

I believe Greg was the reason the Manzo boys got so much airtime. The show used the Manzo boys as a way of getting Greg on the show. I read that Greg’s boyfriend was part of the production staff. When the relationship ended the boyfriend went on to work on a show in Miami and Greg sought employment in San Francisco. How true this is, I am not sure. I do know it appeared they tried to make Greg relevant in some way. He was seated next to Teresa at the S2 fashion show and at one time he was Melissa’s manager.

Andy needs to open his eyes, the Manzo’s popularity is gone.

        Hi Moma

Do you know what happened with Greg and his boyfriend? I just remember that he was really what it seemed in love with this guy, I think they were together for a while. Then next thing I read is that he is moving to S.F. for his job, and tha he and his boyfriend broke up. From what I gather from what Greg has tweeted it wasn’t a ” nice’ break up. I will say I didn’t read too much of Gregs tweets for a while, so I must have missed alot.

        • April 21, 2013 at 7:12 PM

No, holy I do not know exactly what happened. From Greg’s twitter and comments, there is no doubt Greg was hurt and hurt bad. Greg does have a blog and he uses gif’s of the real housewives to tell his story. It is very entertaining and I enjoy it. He started it when he moved to San Francisco. It appears to be a weekly blog, sharing his experiences in a new town.

That sounds great. I really would like greg if he wasn’t up teresa’s butt on season 2 and then hated teresa in season 3 and 4 like she did something to him. He put his two cents in the gorga/giudice family issue when he had no bone in that fight. Remember all his teresa is jealous of melissa, melissa has a better body than teresa, etc. I can’t stand that guy. Not to be mean but whenever I see greg, I think of juicy’s loose butt hole joke. I know what happened because his BF was the brother of someone who I knew. I didn’t know her all that well but my good friend did and she loves the housewives and would always ask about Greg and the girl’s brother and fill me in on the scoop!

Greg’s BF moved from Baltimore to NYC and I guess they didn’t spend as much time together as they thought they would. His BF was/is VERY smart. Studying to be a neuro-surgeon and got a job in NYC and jumped on it after he graduated from college. They would fight all of the time. The sister liked Greg enough but always said he acted like a “diva.”

For what it’s worth, her brother didn’t like Teresa and the Giudices, but got along with everyone else. In fact, he was at the “field day” that they held at that Lauritas. When Gia is freaking out, it was at Greg’s BF, but he never made it on camera, even though he thought he would be…

His ex was really a nice guy, I’m not trying to say he was like them. He broke up with Greg because he was never into the housewives stuff. He is professional, going to be a doctor and I think just had enough of the whole situation. It seemed to me like Greg was living like a double life–would vacation with his BF’s family and be a nice family guy and then step out with the Gorgas.

Anna – Thank you for giving us the heads up on this story. Unfortunately, the title is misleading as it says Teresa is GETTING a show and then you read it and it says it is RUMORED she will be getting her own show:

“The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice is rumored to be getting a spin-off of her own. A source close to the star exclusively reveals to TVFishbowl that “Teresa has been busy taping the pilot for her new show.”

I find it very difficult to trust ANY of these tabloid website’s “sources” anymore! When will they learn to just wait to CONFIRM before reporting and then give us the truth??!!

Now I know that is nitpicky but these rumors have been swirling for years! However, with that being said, I really do hope this time it is true Teresa is taping a pilot and she can leave the rest of those RHONJ to eat her dust!!

It’s All For Show! Teresa Giudice Ripped By Co-Stars For ‘Fake’ Friendships
    Posted on Apr 22, 2013

Teresa Giudice is doing her best to mend fences with her estranged co-stars but RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that they’re not buying her pretend efforts and think she’s being “fake!”

“Everyone sees through Teresa,” a source close to the situation said about the brewing bad feelings with The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars.

“Teresa has been trying to act nice with the other ladies, like Melissa Gorga , Jacqueline Laurita and Caroline Manzo and they think that she is just being fake to them.”

As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, Jacqueline was photographed with Teresa at an event for her hair care line, and the source said that’s a perfect example of Teresa, 40, just wanting to get press through her co-stars.

“All she does is invite everyone to her product parties. Then they become a walking advertisement for Teresa. All she cares about is pushing her products. It’s all for show!

“If all the women are together that winds up getting filmed, and Teresa is so calculating that she always plans to make sure she gets the most camera time.”

RHONJ season five filming was full of drama, but the women are on guard with Teresa still.

“They all know that Teresa puts on an act and then will stab them in the back, so they’re just waiting for that to happen and they’re sure they’ll see it in the episodes,” the source said.

Yeah, right. This story makes me so angry, its the other way arround. They use her!!!!!

    • April 22, 2013 at 7:05 PM

omg so this is how they’re spinning it so Teresa is STILL the bad guy!? I am so so glad that I had already decided to not watch-even tho I love Teresa and want to support her. I have to say, whoever comes up with these “explanations” is an evil genius. You really can’t prove someone isn’t doing something.
Yes Teresa IS being fake. I’m sure she’s no fan of Jac or Caroline or her family on the show, but she’s going to put the best face on it for everyone concerned. And in doing so, she can’t really defend herself, because to do so would be to put her family or people that she loves in a bad light. If I were T, I’d just say, fine, if you think I’m being fake, then be fake right back. I would stop trying to prove I’m not a backstabber, and get on with my life-and I hope that’s just what T does.

Umbelievable, I think this is from the Laurita’s corner, they are friends with Tom Murro.
Talking about who’s fake!!!! Jacqueline can’t stomach the fact that Teresa is doing this products.
That tweeting lazy criminal needs to take notes instead of calling Tom Murro for false story’s. Now, I know why her daughter tweeted that stuff last week. Somebody is fake and it ‘s Jacqueline herself. Teresa is the one who needs to be on guard after all they stabbed her in the back. What in gods name do those ugly people want from Teresa??? Teresa to give them her heart on a silver platter to stab on it once again. And when Teresa is not in to them by calling her fake??

      April 22, 2013 at 7:58 PM

Momajackie and I have been saying for months this making nicey nice is all for the cameras. There have been too many give-aways” Joey retracting his statement about Teresa’s “bullsh*t”; the Gorgas spending Easter with the Marcos; no tweeting nicely between Kathy, Melissa or Teresa; Ashley’s tweets last week; none of them congratulating her winning Ryan’s Seacrest’s Favorite Housewife contest; Caroline’s veiled comments about attempts to build bridges, etc.

Storylines changed when Twitter and blogs started finding out leaked information from filming. Bravo knew that had to do something because the old storylines were now obsolete by the time Season 5 would air.

These women have not reconciled, are not on friendly terms, and I highly doubt they EVER will be. I think ALL of them have been told by Bravo to “play along” and be the “good little employee” or else – whatever that may be. Caroline did, after all, say Bravo would have her head if she were to say anything about Season 5 on one her interviews

      • Aint Pittypat
        April 22, 2013 at 8:48 PM

Teresa is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. Yet she has a Bravo contract and financial responsibility so of course she is going to fake it for the cameras. Does she have a choice? Jaxstabber probably planted this. Of course she only socializes when it involves her products. She kills two birds with one stone and fulfills het business obligations in one fell swoop. Avoids awkward conversations by fulfilling the script and doesn’t give the hag collective an opportunity to ferret out information or fuel gossip from anything she might say. Also when does Teresa have time for a social life? She has 4 daughters and no nannies . If Tre wafted around going to numerous happy hours and or dinners , or shipped like the old days then everyone would have their knives out for her . Funny how clearly Tetesa doesn’t give a darn about them, doesn’t twitter nasty or negative, doesn’t plant stories but oh yeah she is the bad guy.

        • April 22, 2013 at 8:56 PM

I agree Aint! This “source” has Jac written all over it. I laughed when it said Teresa is “using” them to promote her products. Last time I checked, Teresa’s products are doing just fine without them.

          • Aint Pittypat
            April 22, 2013 at 9:16 PM

She clearly doesn’t need them to promote her products but is smart to use her camera time to fit her business agenda and maximize her exposure. Teresa is a hard worker and clearly keeps her head in the game in order to be successful. Do any of them work as hard as Teresa does? No! Against all odds Teresa built a brand and a following while the rest sat around pretending to.be wealthy housewives living in the lap of luxury. Meanwhile the foundations were crumbling. This sounds like bitter envy from one of her faux hw friends.

      • April 22, 2013 at 10:35 PM

You have said it all. When a family, who lives in the same town, does not get together for a holiday something is wrong. Depending on the circumstances, our familly has moved back a holiday celebration, moved one up two weeks (we have a nurse, a broadcasting engineer, plant/shift workers and a girl and her hubby in Dallas), have celebrated on the eve or the day after the holiday, so we could all be together at one time to celebrate the holiday.

This is all for Bravo ratings. In my opinion they are not friendly with each other.

Richard Lawson>>>”…Lastly we move to the radiant golden flower bulb known as Albie Manzo, our stern-shouldered hero who has been on a harrowing and epic quest of late. One that has, it turns out, only just begun. You see his law school, referred to with no name on the show but we now know it’s Seton Hall, has deemed him worthy of… going to another school. Yes, that was the big thing. They have decided that Albie is not incompetent to go to law school, just not competent for their particular school. So… yay? Albie can now apply to law schools that are easier than Seton Hall? Yeesh. In the meantime, Albie’s dad, Al, has offered him a job at the Brownstone. But Albie’s chiseled pride will not stand for that. No sir. Our brave charioteer aims only to streak across the sky with the sun in his wake, never on the ground with the mortals. Never ever, never ever. So he has a clear and approved and difficult mission now. Law school applications. Calloo callay, miserable day.

After he gave his parents the good news, Albie needed to blow off some steam, he was a jumble of nervous energy. The internet was down so he couldn’t… do that, so he decided to go for a drive. He swerved and pealed around corners, feeling effortless and finally full of possibility again. It was a wonderful, joyous feeling. As he zoomed down a leafy street, the sky purpling into evening above him, he saw a hunched figure walking down the road. He slowed, peered out the window. He realized it was his cousin Bouffant, roaming aimlessly. She didn’t have that usual petulant strut to her step. No, she was shuffling and slow. At the sound of the car she looked up and her face was streaked with mascara. She’d been crying. “Hey, you need a ride?” Albie asked, opening the door. Wordlessly, Bouffant climbed into the car and shut the door. Albie sat there with the engine idling. “You OK?” Bouffant wiped her eyes. “Whatever,” she said, trying to feign some defiance. “Whatever,” she repeated, this time more quietly, a sad lost sound, coming from deep down in a well. Albie knew how she felt. He knew. He nodded his head, said “Yeah,” and drove on.

They parked on a palisade overlooking the Hudson, north of the bridge. The sky had turned to glossy black and the stars were just poking out to begin their still dance. Albie and Bouffant sat on the hood of the car and stared out, listening to the rush of the river, felt the night air tumbling around them. They sat there for many hours, saying nothing, trying to pry open some spot on the horizon, to gaze into the future. They did not know what awaited them, only what was behind. They did not know if they were young or old, did not know if they would forever be caught in this limbo place, this yawn of water keeping them from something, from stepping out and finding safe earth beneath them. They did not know what was coming. They did not know.

Eventually they got back in the car and roared off, the car’s red lights disappearing around a corner, headed, for now, back home.”

Forgotten this Lawson gem from the Punta trip>>priceless>>”…Yeah, the trip had come to an end. At least there was this one last night to get everything right. So everyone was napping, except for our three young men: cherished silken princeling Albie, black-gutted cinder lord Chris, and their trusty kept man, Gregor of Hoboken. This gave them time to discuss the various business wheelings and/or dealings that the two brothers – one sunbeams, the other moon farts – had gotten themselves caught up in. Specifically, they are investors or promoters or something of a product called “Blk.” which is the name, probably, of a scuttled late-‘90s R&B outfit, but also of a vitamin water type of product that is, I guess, black. Black water. Like the river in King’s Landing. Delicious! I love drinking black liquid, it’s just always a sign that something is both good and good for you. “If it’s black, knock it back,” is a saying we always said at the orphanage where I grew up.

So yeah, it’s not the most thrilling product on the market, but it’s all they’ve got (and obviously Chris, dark knight of the midnight swamps, loves the viscous black substance) and they want to really make it pop. This is for all the marbles, this is the thing that proves them mature and capable men, not just mewling babies forever suckling at the Brownstone’s low and supple teat. It’s a big deal for sure, but is it such a big deal that they have to waste their last night of Punta paradise fretting about it? Chris and the devoted Greg said no, but Albie couldn’t stop stressing about it, his normally smooth coconut face creasing into worried patterns, his marble eyes suddenly dim and faraway. We’re losing him, the ever watchful Gregor thought, though he did not say it. It was not his place to say anything.”

On Display recap Richard Lawson>>”…Either way, though, she’s already acting like a superstar. At the end of the scene at the store all the fawning ladies joked that they could be her backup dancers and she laughed and said “You’re too old to be my backup dancers!” Like, hahaha? Was that remotely necessary? Melissa, you do realize that they were being facetious right? In that you were all standing in the back of a clothing store in a stripmall joking around about a pop music career that’s never going to happen and backup dancers that will never be needed? Like they weren’t making serious overtures that they wanted to be your backup dancers. Don’t worry. When and if the time comes (it won’t) for you to have backup dancers, there will be auditions and everything. They’re not going to use a bunch of old ladies they found in a stripmall just because those ladies volunteered years ago. Again, none of this is ever going to matter, but that’s a reassurance just in case. These ladies aren’t going to be your backup dancers, Melissa. (No one ever will.) So just cool the fuck out and maybe don’t insult them when they’re trying to be silly and nice. Maybe. I don’t know.”
