The Lauritas Are Back for Season 5 Because Hurricane Sandy Gave Them a Storyline That Bravo Really Liked

On September 10, 2012, Jacqueline Laurita was a guest on the Anderson Cooper Show. He asked her if she would be back for season 5, to which she neither denied or confirmed. Chris Laurita said that if asked back, he and Jacqueline would use the RHONJ as a platform for autism awareness.

On September 17, 2012, a former RHONJ post production supervisor said that before the season 4 reunion special was taped on September 7, 2012, Jacqueline and Kathy were not made offers to return for season 5, and Caroline was made an offer but declined (and without Caroline, there was no place on the show for the other Manzos).

Late Monday, October 29, 2012, Hurricane Sandy hit the Jersey shore and New York Harbor, and shortly thereafter it seems Bravo made the decision to start taping RHONJ season 5… According to a Bravo insider (not a cast member but an employee) the Lauritas weaseled their way onto the show by using Hurricane Sandy for a storyline for season 5:

“Yeah, they’re all back… they weren’t supposed to come back, but then Hurricane Sandy came and their ‘relief efforts’ gave them a storyline that Bravo really liked.”

The insider says Kathy, Caroline, and Jacqueline were OUT and Teresa’s makeup artist was in, as well as some other people they were auditioning. This was a FINAL DECISION, and it was all over the blogs, too, because it was true.

So what happened for them all to return for season 5? How did they weasel their way in? THROUGH TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THOSE AFFECTED BY HURRICANE SANDY. Yes, really.

Bravo taped the Gorga’s “relief efforts” shopping at Target, the Manzo’s/Laurita’s “relief efforts” by promoting Cafface/blk as a dropout/delivery site for donations, and the Manzo boys raising money as guest bartenders at the opening of their new restaurant. These staged events under the guise of charity were followed by the taping of the Hurricane Sandy fundraiser at Space Odyssey, which all of the cast attended, except for Caroline, Jacqueline, Chris and Albie, who were in California promoting blk at a Walgreens’ grand opening.

So basically, Bravo cameras were rolling when the Manzos and Lauritas were blowing up Twitter with all their “information” about Sandy, and when they were loading the blk van with donations dropped off at Cafface, etc. — and if they looked super super happy, it’s because their supposedly good-hearted relief efforts were their tickets back onto the show:

“We are collecting things @ my store to bring to shelters! Using our twitter flwrs to spread the word! My stores in Franklin lks ” – Lauren Manzo, November 3, 2012, Twitter

“Feeling so lucky to own a public store that my fam & I can use to take donations and get them where they have to be! Thank u all for ur help!” – Lauren Manzo, November 3, 2012, Twitter

“Let’s all pull together 2day&bring as much supplies 2 Cafface in Franklin Lakes so that we can donate2those in need! Team Blk will deliver!” – Jacqueline Laurita, November 3, 2012, Twitter

This probably means the Manzos/Lauritas will be getting the super-angelic storyline edit as usual… saviors of humanity. Remember Jacqueline’s comments toward Teresa about how she shouldn’t be “doing things quietly” — well, Jacqueline returning because of her Hurricane Sandy relief effort storyline puts that comment into context:

“Now is NOT the time2silently do good deeds4others,use ur Voice2encourage MANY 2join in.THATS how I was raised!ESPECIALLY if given a platform.” – Jacqueline Laurita, November 5, 2012 4:04 PM, Twitter

Let’s hope the storyline isn’t that Teresa did nothing while they were saving the world:

“Of course we are helping every which way we can too but I’m just not one to take pics of it. Sorry, not how I was raised xx (Matthew 6:1-3).” – Teresa Giudice, November 4, 3:13 PM, Twitter

Season 5 Hurricane Sandy RHONJ Cast Member Relief Efforts Taped by Bravo (Bravo Showcases the Manzos, Lauritas and Gorgas):

  • October 29, 2012 – Hurricane Sandy hits the Jersey shore and New York Harbor late Monday, October 29, 2012
  • November 2-3, 2012 – Laurita/Manzo camp tweets to bring donations to Cafface for delivery by blk van to shelters
  • November 4, 2012 – Joe and Melissa Gorga shop at Target for Hurricane Sandy relief effort and drop off items to donation centers (plus Joe the lumberjack cuts downed tree in neighborhood)
  • November 4, 2012 – Lauren tweets to stop dropping off clothes to Cafface — says to drop them off at the Red Cross or a shelter
  • November 9, 2-12 – Lauren tweets to stop dropping off donations to her store Cafface — says it makes more sense to send donations directly [well or course it makes sense to go directly to the shelters and donation centers, which is why it is obvious they were merely promoting their businesses and trying to lure Bravo into recasting them when they tweeted for people to drop off items to them]
  • November 10, 2012 – Jacqueline tweets: “We’ve been helping out w/out Bravo filming but that doesn’t mean we r going 2 stop helping 1ce they r”
  • November 15, 2012 – Joe and Melissa worked the phones during MTV’s ‘Restore The Shore’ special
  • November 20, 2012 – Manzo boys promote their new restaurant by advertising they’ll be guest bartenders at the Village Pourhouse in Hoboken to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims
  • November 26, 2012 – Gliz, Glam and Gifts, an event held at the Brownstone by The Sparkling Event (run by Candice Laurita and Cristina Granelli, Jacqueline’s nieces) “Benefits Sandy Victims” (housewives donate items to victims of storm and offer holiday shopping)
  • November 30, 2012 – Hurricane Sandy fundraising event at Space Odyssey — Teresa, Melissa and Joe, Kathy and Richie, Kim D, Elvira, Jennifer, Lauren and Christopher attend
  • December 6, 2012 – Damian and Beau Monde Salon & Spa’s inaugural Holiday Party for Charity at the 201 Club in Englewood — Teresa and Kim D, Elvira Grau, Caroline and Jacqueline attend

During the season 4 reunion special, it was obvious that Kathy’s days on the show were over. She stirred the pot against Teresa for two seasons, but she must have known she wasn’t bringing any real storyline. Kathy is rumored to have a limited role in season 5… could she be reaching out to Teresa as a way of getting more camera time? It would explain the recent favorable tweets between them:

Honestly, I think they all helped out of the goodness of their hearts. Does it bother me that they got some advertising for their businesses, yes and no. Yes just cuz it seems sleazy, no because if you think about it logically they have the BLK mini bus and a facility to drop stuff off at. Bottom line for me is they helped, there is no denying that.

In a real sense, I agree — that every little bit does indeed help, motivations aside. I live in NJ not far from the shore areas that were devastated. We were without power and heat for almost a week (when Mother Nature decided to deliver some cold air after weeks of warmth).

I’d like to take a brief moment and thank everyone here who sent in a donation, and who prayed with their hearts and souls. I am deeply touched and grateful for all the outpouring of love and support for all affected by the diabolical tempest.

mzjulesaz – I feel that if their hearts were truly in the right place, they would still be working to “Restore the Shore”. Their fellow New Jerseyans are suffering – greatly. The very real devastation Sandy left is STILL there and won’t be going away for many years. The beautiful Jersey Shore no longer exists in many parts of the coastline and will never come back. There are literally whole towns of homes and businesses destroyed. Why aren’t these people who used this horrific storm to advertise their businesses still helping? What they did was all well and good – but are they out there now in the bitter cold helping to clean up the mess, scrubbing mold off of walls and pipes, or giving comfort to the children who have not only lost their homes, they have lost their schools, and their friends? How about taking a drive down to Lavallette and work in a food kitchen once or twice a week to help? How about “adopting” a family or taking someone out on a shopping trip to buy some new clothes? How about going to the pet shelters and take care of the animals who cannot be with their owners? Do many people know that the FEMA vouchers will run out on December 26th and the hundreds of people who have been liiving in hotels will have no place to live? How about running errands or filling prescriptions for people who no longer have a local drugstore? How about opening your home to someone who has been left with nothing? How about just offering a shoulder to cry on? These are just a few of the small gestures people could offer and would be so appreciated. There is so much that needs to be done and it will be ongoing.

In miy mind, the people who continue to help today gladly without recognition and are committed to seeing it through – they are the ones who should be looked up to and commended. They are the ones who are the silent heroes – not “celebrities” who shouted from the rooftops every move they made to show to the world what “great” people they are.

Please don’t misunderstand me – I think your comment was lovely and you are right – the fact that they did anything really DOES count for something and that IS the bottom line. ANY help is better than nothing. I just question the motives behind it. I know others don’t really care about the motives, but the question I have is if they care so much, if their hearts are in the right place – in NJ – where are the Lauritas, the Manzos, and the Gorgas now??

      • December 13, 2012 at 2:19 PM

I hear you and agree they should continue to help in some capacity; however, do we know that they aren’t? I’m not going to assume based upon lack of twitter activity on the topic that they aren’t, but I’m not going to assume that they are either. How do we know what type of monetary contributions they have made, we don’t.

In these terrible situations the sad reality is that people help at 1st and then those who can do get on with their lives. It really sad, because the interest dies down and the mess is still there for many.

I guess I’m just in the Christmas mood and can’t imagine the Manzo’s/Laurita’s (as much as I dislike them) sitting around the dining room table with their generators and fully stocked fridges plotting how to make this an opportunity for BLK and CAFFACE (sp?) as well as storyline for S5. I could imagine them being shocked at the devastation in their state and saying what can we do to help? We have the van, we can use Cafface as a drop-off site and we can tweet where folks can get food, gas etc.

Like I said I’m just in the Christmas mood and looking for the good in all not just the negative.

You have a good heart and soul mzjulesaz! I guess when it comes to these people I am more cynical! 🙂 Enjoy the season – your mood is where it should be!!

          • December 13, 2012 at 8:26 PM

As am I. Truth is, Sandy hit the entire state of NJ. The shore received the most devastation due to the storm surge. I don’t think there were many anywhere in NJ who did not lose power for some time. I’m in nw NJ and luckily I only lost it for about two days but there were many in my same area who didn’t have power for weeks. There was a gas shortage that effected us all. Food was in short supply. Jac was in her house in northern NJ when the storm hit and sent out tweets with pics of her full pantry. Sent out tweets about how they had to live in “only four rooms” because they were powered by a generator. It just seemed so callous to me.

Thirty eight people in NJ alone died from all over the state. Other than those effected by a death and some whose houses were damaged, the state is back to normal except for many along the shore. Will be months, years, before they are “back to normal” if ever. Hoboken was hit pretty hard too (as was areas of NYC and Staten Island, Long Island, NY… I’m not disregarding that… actually many places along the Atlantic… but I’m just referring the RHoNJ right now).

I truly believe that if ONLY the shore areas were hit, Jac and the Manzo’s wouldn’t have done much. If they weren’t Jersey housewives, I doubt they would have done much, if anything. It IS great that they helped but every tweet included BLK and/or Cafface in one way or another.

The Gorgas have a home in the shore area as well as having immediate family down there. I’m sure they would have been involved in one way or another regardless of the show.

Teresa’s father was in the hospital during this time. I’m sure it was scary knowing that the hospital was working on auxiliary power. I believe I read that Teresa fed family and friends who did not have power and gave them a warm place with light, food, running water. That’s helping too. I’m sure she didn’t want to travel far with her dad in the hospital. But who knows… she may have worked her butt off down there helping with everything from cleanup to donating everything that was needed and it still would end up on the cutting room floor.

I’m afraid it’s going to be the same ole, same ole. Teresa is horrible and everyone else are saints. After all, JoGo is God don’t cha know! You would think Bravo would know by now that people aren’t stupid and can see through the garbage we’re being fed.

Everything aside, any and all help received by anyone and everyone for any reason whatsoever is still a positive in the end.

The FEMA vouchers run out of December 26?!!!! That is one of the saddest things I have ever seen. I was just complaining to my husband yesterday about how difficult it is to get decent news about Jersey.

          • Jeannie5233
            December 13, 2012 at 9:39 PM

It was on the local news last night. They interviewed a family consisting of three generations packed into two hotel rooms with their dog and cat, decorating a tabletop Christmas tree. The grandmother was crying because her grandchildren would not have roof over their heads the day after Christmas – heartbreaking.

Did the Manzos, Lauritas or Gorgas see that segment? Did it touch them enough to say hey, you know what I’ve got this great big ole house with so much room – maybe I could lend a hand to someone? I know people who have opened their doors with welcome arms – my neighbors and my daughter, as well. She has had someone living with her and her roommate in Manhattan since Sandy hit because the young woman’s apartment is uninhabitable.

            • December 13, 2012 at 11:13 PM

Fame is probably going to ban me as I’m in the Christmas mode and a bit sappy. I’m just happy people helped in anyway they could/can. I however do think the Gorgas were all about publicity as those Target pictures were a joke.

Having said that I will get off my soapbox and put my Dr. Suess Grinch hat on. If Bravo or those BIOTCHES use this as a storyline to make our Tre look bad or make them look like saints it will disgust me. The bottom line is that there are so many 1st responders and people helping day in and out in NJ and will for years to come and they are the ones that need the credit. If Bravo takes this sad event as a storyline, Andy should be fired (well he should be anyway but that’s another tirade).

Thanks for the discussion 🙂 I love coming here and discussing with respect.

I am reading this article as I watch the 12/12/12 concert for Sandy Relief. Jon Bon Jovi is giving a look at the devastation of his hometown of Sayreville, NJ and the people who are still impacted. People are living in hovels; shells of what was their former safe havens – their HOME. And it’s cold – there is no heat, no electricity, and mold everywhere. Thousands of people are displaced and will be for a long time. Bon Jovi said that people watch, feel badly, and then go on living their lives as usual. But for these people – they do not go on living what was once their normal life. Normalcy, for them, is completely gone.

People will continue to need the amount of help they were receiving when Sandy first hit. Alot of that help has waned. If you are NJ or NY or CT STRONG, you will continue to help – no matter how small a contribution; it matters. We will come back – stronger than ever.

As for the big show in supporting victims of Sandy – the incessant tweeting, the filming, – Where are the Lauritas, Gorgas, and Manzos now????? They have gone back to living their own lives. Manzos are getting ready for the holidays, Melissa is hawking “Thank you Jesus” t-shirts for sale for the holidays on Twitter What happened to the “Restore the Shore” t-shirts – they would make great gifts?!?!?!

These people are the very definition of what a fame whore is – I don’t think I can bear watching them when Bravo airs this footage during Season 5 especially after watching some of the absolutely heartbreaking footage I have seen tonight.

    • December 12, 2012 at 9:41 PM

jeannie you wrote that from your heart and im crying for the people,i really want to help again how besides giving to red c.i want my whole money to go straight to them
what is jacos story line from sandy?why do we want to see her doing things only for the camera and then they walk away and get a big pay chk for it?do you really think the people devestated want to be filmed in their sorrow n chaos? this is a travesty and as you say heart breaking for to rehash their misery ,they still need help everyday

Celi – and you wrote that from your heart as well – bless you! You, as well as so many of the good people here, have been wonderful already in helping people try to get back some of their dignity back. Giving to the Red Cross and designating it to Hurricane Sandy Relief is probably the safest way for you. For tonight’s concert, every single penny raised will go directly to help people recover from Sandy. You can go directly to this link and make a donation:

It is estimated over 2 billion people will watch this concert – if everyone gave just ONE DOLLAR that would mean over $2 billion dollars would be raised. What is sad though – more will still be needed. But it certainly would go a long, long way!!

Good to see you here Celi!!!

          December 12, 2012 at 10:26 PM

Totally agree with this…shoot, I even got mad last night watching stupid Giuliana and Bill and after doing the math calculation realized they were stressing their furniture delivery being on time because it was supposed to leave the east coast DURING SANDY. Giuliana is another one who is a phony and I was just shocked that she never mentioned anything about the hurricane during the time, nor now. Some of these people need a slap in the face.

By the way, tried to give via the 121212 site above – internet flaked out. Too many people flooding their site. I’d recommend waiting a few hours until the concert is over, because now I don’t know if they got my donation or not.

Celi, living in south Louisiana and knowing the wrath of Katrina and many other storms, I am careful as to which causes I donate to. Great sums of money are usually followed by theft and fraud. I truly believe if every dollar donated for Katrina victims was given to victims, New Orleans would be whole again. It is not.

I donated to Habitat for Humanity, living here I SEE and KNOW they help those in need. In the past I have donated to a no kill animal shelter and a few local volunteer fire companies (articles in read about the help these organizations have and continue to give).

I actually did a little work for them back in my younger days, helping to paint and wallpaper and met and worked along side some wonderful, deserving people. It is an excellent organization! Great advice Moma!!

I have worked for Habitat too! Even if you cannot pound a nail straight there is plenty for everyone to do. If you do not want to work in the homes, there is a lot of fundraising too. There is always a need for someone to volunteer to push paper. And I have always had fun working for them.

        • December 13, 2012 at 11:17 PM

BRAVO’S decision to bring back Jacqueline, Caroline and Kathy guarantees I will not be watching season five. I haven’t watch any of the housewives …Beverly Hills, NY, Atlanta or Miami since season four of NJ left such a bad taste. I refuse to endorse a cable channel that endorses bullying.

    • December 12, 2012 at 10:24 PM

I haven’t watch Bravo in six months, other than RHONJ so that I could blog about it. The best way to get the advertisers to notice is to stop watching Bravo. The most popular Bravo shows are:

      TOP CHEF

The network’s other shows normally don’t make the top 100 cable shows for the night, except for WWHL when the popular housewives are the guests.

Other networks and shows I watch instead:

      ID (most of their shows)
      HGTV (Property Brothers)
      TLC (Honey Boo Boo)
Food Network (Restaurant Impossible, Restaurant Stakeout)
      MTV (Jersey Shore, The Challenge)
      CNBC (American Greed: Scams)
SCI (Dark Matters: Twisted But True)
      AMC (The Walking Dead)
Animal Planet (My Cat from Hell)
      NatGeo (Dog Whisperer)
E! for The Soup (only The Soup – the others shows are junk)

I tracked RHONJ via CableTVRatings as each week passed, but I don’t think you can go back and get the stats after the fact. It seems to me that RHBH is down is ratings, but I’m not sure.

I’ve lost interest in all the HW shows too. They are all hate filled bins of garbage and WWHL lines the bottom of them. I hope Bravo and Andy take a good hard look at shows like Duck Dynasty and Honey Boo Boo (my new fav’s). They may be a bit on the silly side but they are good hearted shows. I read an article that Duck Dynasty’s Christmas show had 6.5 Million Viewers. The RHONJ S4 Reunion Pt. 2 (the highest rated) only had 3.6 million viewers. Where did Bravo go wrong that they can’t compete with camo wearing bearded boys making duck calls? I know – the Marco’s, Caro & Kids, Koma & Creepy, and Wacko! Bravo ruined a good show the day they hired the Marco’s. I’d like to see Tre get a cooking show on another network because I don’t know that I can stomach another season of RHONJ.

At least Jaq, Caroline and Kathy knew that they were so close to being out of a job! AND, that Teresa’s job was safe hurricane Sandy, or not Teresa was still going to be on RHoNJ. Jaq, the Joker from Batman, looks horrible from behind! Her bra strap is showing and her hair looks a mess. I bet Jaq was steaming from jealousy seeing Teresa surrounded by her new friends sitting in the VIP section! Jaq is wearing a ‘green with envy’ dress color! Caroline, her cleavage looks nasty, ewwwww……. You know, they do fit the ‘mold’ of Melissa’s type of friend now! A little run down with a hint of ‘skank!’ Teresa’s sloopy seconds, Melissa & Kathy are so lucky~ NOT! Of course, Teresa looks magnificant! I do like her hair hairstyle like that and the jewlery is gorgeous with her dress color!

Oh, your welcome, Ms. Knowlton for caring. I’m from the midwest and am not familiar with Hannofords, but it’s nice they promote their donations. In the town I live in we have a supermarket called Reasor’s that do the same thing when a natural disaster occurs and donations are being taken. I have friends that live in New Jersey and hearing what they are going through is heart breaking. One friend helped out with donations for a particular organization. If you must know I did donate to her organization because I trust her and know that she has a good heart. Take care, Mr. Knowlton and keep warm when your outside helping out with relief efforts, okay?

You know what? They could do positive things for the community, go on missionary expeditions, donate a litre of blood a day for the next twenty years BUT it wouldn’t change my opinion. I just can’t stand watching them anymore. Good intentions, bad intentions what have you, I’ve reached my saturation point with these people. Yes I’ll watch the first ep and see what happens, how they’ll try to spin things, out of morbid fascination but their voices alone irritate the life out of me. I have a thing about Tom Cruise as well, I think over exposure really turns people off. Granted I have sought out information about them but there’s just so much it’s kind of hard to ignore. I was just so disgusted by their behaviour which never seems to end, it was like an accident unfolding – to terrible to watch, to shocking to look away and not voice outrage!

The preview clip to S5 is going to make it LOOK like the tables have turned, aka there will be a clip of Tre yelling a “shocking truth” that we’ve all known all along, but nevertheless, the response will be a hurt/angry/caught look from Melissa etc etc… I’m sure by that night it’ll be posted on YouTube, just watch it there. 😉

Dee you come off as this person that loves to hear themselves talk but doesn’t take the time to really listen to what you’re saying. These women have absolutely nothing to be jealous of. These 4 women [Caroline, Jacqueline, Melissa and, Kathy] are jealous…of Teresa. Envious that Teresa out-shined them in so many things that their getting frustrated because how can someone do so many things at once and still come out looking like a rose? They have tried to break her down on numerous occasions because, she doesn’t let trolls like them get her down. She has a family to take care of and that’s her motivation that keeps her going. The word ‘haters” and “jealous” are overly used words to the point they really have no meaning anymore. And–For the LOVE of KING PLEASE learn how to type a sentence with the correct spelling and, puncuation before you talk bs to anyone. Christmas isn’t here yet so until December 25th comes save that ridiculous sarcasm when X-Mas gets here in 13 days.

      Dee –

With the sarcasm that is absolutely pouring out of this comment, I do not believe you really wish anyone here at FW a Merry Christmas.

But this I will say to you in response – Real “hate” is what eats at your soul and can destroy a person. As Monique says below, “haters” (as coined by Jacs) has become overly used and people have become desensitized to it. The word HATE (or HATERS if you will) is an awful, negative one because the extreme emotion of HATRED is so destructiive. I, for one, do not use that word lightly especially when it pertains to people. I can truly say there is only one person I hate in my life and that is something I struggle with every day.

You have made it crystal clear your extreme hatred of the Giudice family simply by your constant grotesque insults and remarks about all of them. If you truly believe in the meaning of Christmas, can YOU find it in YOUR heart to stop “hating” so much on the Giudice family, cut them a little break, and wish them a Merry Christmas? Does the real spirit of the season give you ANY generosity towards people you speak so badly about? You know – “Good will
towards men. . .Luke 2:14. If not, then don’t bring “Merry Christmas” into the discussion here and then challenge people.

Yes Celi, He is coming soon.

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. — 1 Timothy 6:7-11

Trials were predestinated for us in Christ’s last legacy. And although tribulation is thus the path of God’s children, we have the comfort of knowing that our Master has traversed it before us. We must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God (Acts 14:22). When we reach the kingdom, it will more than make amends for the “much tribulation” through which we passed to enter it. Learn to count it all as joy when we fall into many straits and difficulties. Meditate much on heaven to help us press on and to forget the toil of the way. This vale of tears is but the pathway to the better country: this world of woe is but the stepping stone to a world of bliss. God breaks down our comforts to make room for grace. When we are most cast down, the light of Christ is the more brightly revealed to us. The humbler a man lies, the more comfort he will always have. Trials and afflictions bring us to God and we are happier, for nearness to God is happiness. – Charles Haddon Spurgeon

When our Lord was upon the earth, He walked the footpath of weariness and service as the Servant of servants. What wonder is it if His followers should also be looked down upon as inferior and contemptible persons? We expect to walk in sympathy with our Lord along a thorny road: through much tribulation we are forcing our way to the crown. To bear the cross is our office, and to be scorned and counted aliens by the world is our lot; and yet we have a deep well of joy of which none can drink but the children of God. The world is upside down, and therefore, the first are last and the last first. When the wheel turns, they who are highest sink and the lowest rise. Patience then, believer, eternity will right the wrongs of time. – Charles Haddon Spurgeon

God has been “for us” in many struggles; we have been summoned to encounter hosts of dangers; we have been assailed by temptations from without and within: how could we have remained unharmed to this hour if He had not been “for us?” He is “for us” with all the infinity of His being, with all the omnipotence of His love, with all the infallibility of His wisdom; arrayed in all His divine attributes, He is “for us”—eternally and immutably “for us.” When I cry unto Thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me (Psalms 56:9). “I will direct my prayer unto God and will look up for the answer, assured that it will come and that my enemies shall be defeated, ‘for God is for me.’” – Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. May the Lord bless and give comfort to those who suffered losses in Hurricane Sandy and the Connecticut shootings. My thoughts and prayers are with them…

Your right about Kathy being PURE GARBAGE. Who the hell talks smack about an ailing uncle with a heart condition? I can’t stomach her at all. I hate the fact that she gets a platform to build a brand (or at least attempt). I haven’t watched any of the HW’s show since NJ because that show simply wore me out. Season 3 & 4 were deeply cruel and I won’t watch season 5. NO ONE wants to see the marco’s and the wacks on TV!!!
I can’t understand why T would congratulate Katfish on anything after what she did. Bravo is stupid and as it’s been said before, the best way for our voices to be heard- DON’T WATCH!

I wonder if Teresa sent the congratulations tweet to Kathy at the Bravo producers’ direction? I’m asking this because does anyone remember when Teresa sent a tweet to Cat Rodriguez after all the info coming out that Cat was setting Teresa up and had a thing going with Melissa? I can’t remember the exact words of the tweet Tre sent to Cat, but it was a very friendly tweet and posters on blogs were wondering why Tre would do that after what Cat did to her. I believe Teresa mentioned that she was told or asked to do it by the producers.

Tre responded to a tweet from Cat (who’s tweets are protected) “miss you too!” Right after every article came out saying Cat/Kat whatever hates Tre and got fired for her biased editing.

“Storage Wars” star David Hester says in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that he was fired after complaining that the reality show is staged.

In his lawsuit, Hester contends that the producers of the hit A&E series routinely plant valuable items in the storage lockers seen on the show. Competitors place bids on the lockers without knowing what is inside them, hoping to come across forgotten treasures.

In one case, the lawsuit contends, A&E planted a pile of newspapers reporting Elvis Presley’s death. In another episode, according to the suit, a BMW mini car was found buried under trash.

This article above has been on mainstream news outlets and reported on CNN and all the TV news stations. One station was reporting that Hester may have a good case due to a law that was passed years ago when game shows were deceiving the viewing public got sued. This may fall into the same category according to the TV news . My question is, with all of the manipulating and fake storylines that the producers of the New Jersey Housewives show did, including Cat Rodriguez’ antics, why can’t the Giudices sue Bravo for the same thing? They drug Teresa through the mud for more than one season. Producers setting Teresa up, Cat Rodriguez feeding information to all the cast members but Teresa. This is the exact same situation. Why isn’t mainstream media picking up on this?

    • Honnie Badger
      December 13, 2012 at 8:32 AM

Fab question. But I believe that the contract she signed likely stipulates that they can manipulate and do anything they want without repercussions of lawsuits about appearing in any bad light.

I remember when the producers of Jersey Couture (Oxygen network) were filming a Sweet 16 at my favorite establishment where I go to unwind for happy hour. If you did not want to be anywhere near the action, you had to vacate the premises or sign a release form. That release form was about 3 pages long and basically asserted that they own the footage of you and can do anything with that footage they want to; your signature gives them complete rights and consent. And that’s only for folks who will appear in the background! BTW, the production company was called Magilla.

      • Tulip
        December 13, 2012 at 3:11 PM

Yes, I remember reading that about the contract stipulation on lawsuits, but I read on ROL (I know, not very reliable 🙂 ) that Adrienne is suing Bravo along with Brandi and that is why Bravo took the actual thing that Brandi said out of the show, but left everything else in as a kind of F U to Adrienne. Don’t know how much of that is true, cause ROL isn’t very reliable, but it would explain why Bravo is leaving everything else in the episode except what Brandi actually said.

    • December 13, 2012 at 9:08 PM

One of the blogs, I believe it was Stoopid Housewives but I could be wrong, had a copy of the housewives contract. It covers anything and everything. It was quite entertaining to read but left me even more perplexed why ANYONE would sign on. There’s not enough money in the world that would be worth it.

Jacqueline is just going to play the victim again in S5 and, in all honesty Jacqueline is not all there. Snooki is more into restoring the shore than Jacqueline and Melissa put together. It’s all about looking like saints. It’s what you do behind the scenes that makes you a good person when it comes to certain situations like Hurricane Sandy. This isn’t a race on who can give out the most money or, supplies to help these victims. The Laurita’s are sleazy people too and they will throw anyone under the bus just to give themselves a name and a reason to still be on the show.

    • December 13, 2012 at 9:20 PM

I can’t believe the timing of ending Jersey Shore. I would bet the house in which they filmed is gone or may as well be gone. Seaside, the town where it’s filmed, was destroyed. It would have been so interesting to see what they would have done with the show if it was still on. I never watched it, but I’d definitely start if there was another season. My boyfriend’s niece’s house was very close to wear Jersey Shore was filmed… it was a block away from the beach… and it is no longer. Such a darn shame. Heartbreaking. I used to go there all the time in my teen years and early 20s. The boardwalk/piers were tons of fun. Seeing pics of the roller coaster in the Atlantic Ocean was just so surreal. Gives me chills.

    December 13, 2012 at 11:10 AM

I don’t think that I will be watching S5 of RHONJ. I don’t think I can stomach another edited show of hate fest of Teresa. I remember how the first two seasons were fun. I loved seeing the SR Gorgas on the show. The first epidsode of S2 was so funny with Teresa’s dad aksing if the babysittere was on her period because you can’t make red sauce if you were. It was funny. It seems strange that after Teresa’s brother came on the show that you stop seeing their parents on the show all together. That spoke volumes because they didn’t approve of what was going on. I’m sure that they heard from their friends who were watching the show what their son and daughter-in-law were saying. It’s not all Teresa. I do believe that their were problems before they came on the show but they were fixable. I believe all parties are at fault but for Melissa she is not the one it’s all Teresa. She is the victim here not Teresa. It just sickening.

I just love the picture where Caro and Jackie are speaking to Teresa. The look on Teresa’s face says it all. She was being nice but you could tell she didn’t want to talk to them. I think that the friendships that she had with them are forever gone and will not be repaired. It’s sad because I liked Teresa and Jackie together. They were are Lucy and Ethel. I just hope Teresa is not stupid enought to listen to the Bravo producers and follow their instructions to play nice. I think it’s time she puts her foot down. I believe I would like to see her with her on cooking show or maybe her and Dina can reunite and do an episode on Dina’s show together. Dina doing the decorations and Teresa doing the food.

    • December 13, 2012 at 9:48 PM

Teresa is in a no win situation. If she doesn’t play nice then it will be “See? The others are right. Teresa IS a biotch”!!! If she does take the high road then it will be “she’s stupid,” “she’s weak,” “she knows she was wrong so that’s why she’s being nice,” “she has a guilty conscience so now she wants to play nice.” I can go on and on. Whatever she does, she’s going to be wrong.

I would like to see her be civil but aloof. Not say anything bad about any of the other women because that will excuse anything they do or say about Teresa. Live her life… don’t even acknowledge the others during her film time alone… say “hi” “how are the kids”? “glad to hear it” “bye.” Don’t give them anything that could make her part of their storyline.

Remember the season the Atlanta women all played nice at the reunion? They didn’t give Andy anything to work with. They gave him zero drama. They made their point. They did it because they wanted more money and were denied. After that, they got more money… Genius move and it worked!

Don’t give the other ladies ANYTHING Teresa. You’re interesting without them, they can’t say the same.

      • December 13, 2012 at 9:59 PM

Just want to add that the unfortunate part is if Teresa is told by Bravo/Andy/producers to bring on the drama… she’ll bring on the drama. She thinks she’s being a “good employee.” SCREW THEM TERESA… you stick with your entertaining family as your storyline… building your empire… DON’T fall for it! Make it really hard for them to give you a bad/villain edit. Holy moly I really can’t stand Andy Cohen. I have a hard time believing in Karma because more often than not, there’s rarely justice in this world. Good things happen to bad people… bad things happen to good people. Bad people better watch out though… we don’t know what happens to us after we die… maybe that’s retribution time. Melissa thinks she’s so hot now… hehehe… they say to be careful what you wish for… Melissa may be HOT for ever more.

First, let me state, I got so sick of reading Chuckies Twitter feed during the immediate timeline following Sandy that I have stopped reading it…. sooooo-I am not hearing anything on any sites regarding her continuation of the help desperately STILL NEEDED for those affected. If she is no longer blowing up her twatter, in the mix and helping than TO ME this just confirms she was doing it for nothing but the publicity to repair her public image. The immediate help in an aftermath of devatation to this degree is always greatly appreciated, but it’s the LONG TERM FOLLOW THROUGH that is imperative for recovery. That is why I think it was AWESOME with the Sandy Concert last night…. the media will glaze over tragedies and move rapidly onto the next “thing” in the news and leave things like this in the dust. I have a feeling this is what Chuckie will be doing…….if she hasn’t already

That would be nice watching “karma” play out on Jaq! She couldn’t handle that type of confrontation, though. She’s mentally unstable and turns into a psycho when she feels threatened. She could possibly hurt someone, or herself, if she had to deal with ‘her view of the public’ knowing her financial legal problems. She can dish it, but she’s not a strong enough person to take it! I often wondered how Car, Jaq, Mel and Kat would have handled being in Teresa’s position? I do believe they’ll all get their karma one day, maybe we might witness it? Maybe not…. due to Andy Cohen.

I’m over all the Real Housewives series and BravoTV in general. I’ve decided to not renew my cable package in Janauary/2013 (80 channels | $60/month) so I don’t have to watch any shit on Bravo or TV anymore! All of the shows these days are so fake and not that good. I’ve grown tired and have woken up to the fact that it’s all waste of time. So now I will have $720/year I can spend on things I actually enjoy! For weather and news I can just turn on my PC and find it for free.

While I appreciate this blog opening up my eyes to the lies and deception of how Reality TV works and about RHONJ. I also feel sad for all the people out there who have becomes obsessed with these shows. We are just $$$ signs to all of the cast and the network and that is the ultimate truth.

    • December 14, 2012 at 4:34 PM

I enjoy all kinds of television shows, always have, always will. The money I spend on my DirectTv is absolutely worth it to me and it’s part of my entertainment budget. If Bravo went off the air tomorrow, it would just mean less recording conflicts for me but I won’t lie, I’d miss watching the housewives. Your opinion of it being a waste of time is just that… your opinion. I don’t consider anything a waste of my time if I’m being entertained while doing it so…

I don’t believe it’s totally fake… if it was Teresa’s family wouldn’t be torn apart. Unfortunately for them, I think it’s all too real. I do believe certain situations are set up. I believe it can be producer driven. It’s done to amp up the drama. It’s kinda funny how these women have to embellish their lives to make it interesting enough for viewers. Just tells me that they’re not all that like they want us to believe. The bottom line is they want ratings… it’s the name of the game. And of course we are dollar signs to them. What else would we be? It’s a business and that’s what they are in business for.

Don’t be sad for those obsessed with the shows. It’s their choice… it’s not a crime. But hey, if you don’t enjoy it, I don’t blame you for pulling the plug. Have fun with that $720/year! I hope you still come here to catch up on the NJ crew and so you can read about it when the Marcos, Manzos and Lauritas crumble!! LOL

  24. December 13, 2012 at 5:56 PM

You can totally tell by that picture of Jacqueline and Caroline and Teresa looking on her with their fake smile and fake greeting of saying hello. I bet they are trying to be civil with her now that their job is still on the line. There is supposed to be a season 6 of RHONJ which might be the finale season of the franchise. This all depends on the ratings of the upcoming season.

I understand Teresa’s tweet towards Kathy but it kind of feels to me that she basically saying if you want to sell these cannoli kits I need to mention you so that you can more buyers since you’re pathetic self cannot sell a dime on a corner. LOL! It was just my opinion of the tweet but we all know that it’s genuine.

DId you know that Kathy husband tweeted something. It’s on STH blog about if he should tell his friend that his wife is a cheater? I am don’t think that this directed towards Teresa but I won’t be surprised. As usual Kathy refers to the friend as Wiggles and since they are filming now this probably a sub plot towards possible one of Teresa’s friends on the show.

    • December 13, 2012 at 10:17 PM

I think the tweet was probably double barrelled. I think it was genuine on one hand however on the other they all bang on about how Teresa can’t be happy for them, that she’s non-supportive BUT she is the only one who vocalises her support of the other women (she wrote a blog about it – she always link’s Missy’s “songs”). All the while they roll their eyes at her achievements, the most recent example being at the reunion when Andy bought up her CA appearance – cut to Melissa’s eye roll and… *crickets*. The jealousy and resentment was palpable to me. They’re out saying “they’re her Mum’s recipes, she’s profiting of her Mum” (Joe Gorga probably feels entitled to a cut of the profits because that’s how he rolls – it’s his family, he’s the angel from God) that she’s a fake. What better way to give Kathy the middle finger – I’d do it – totally passive aggressive, if that’s the way the gesture is read!

http://vimeo.com/54432527 this d video shows the damage from the hurricane, i’m not making a statement on climate change but it gives you a view of what really happened. This will take a long time to fix and we need people to help. not twitter about their good deeds.

Once again great point. I know that many do not realize – but upstate NY was really hurt by Irene and Lee. No one of any significance came to the rescue – entire villages were wiped out – I get it – not my backyard – but what a story line that might have been for RHONY – but if there isn’t a Cohen connection – then why bother…

This is my first time commenting, but I have been an avid reader of this site since S4 of RHONJ. After reading this particular article, I went to Jacqueline’s twitter to see if she has mentioned anything about the helping the Jersey Shore and noticed that her twitter followers have now surpassed Teresa’s followers. Does anyone else think that is odd since it seemed like last week it was way less?

Wow, I didn’t realize it changed just yesterday morning. I try not to go on her page, because I can’t stand all the passive aggressive stabs she makes at Teresa.

If I am reading twittercounter.com’s page on Jacs Twitter activity correctly , it looks like she gained 10,745 followers just yesterday! Yes, you read that right – 10,745 followers in just one day!!!! That can’t be possible unless she is buying followers again. In contrast, Teresa gained 143 followers. Really?!?!

It is amazing people get so competitive about who follows who and really think it is so important to have more followers than other people. Crazy the lengths that some people will go. How absolutely ridiculous if this is considered a measure of self-worth or popularity. The world of Twitter is very important to Jacs to the point of obsession. She must feel the need to project to everyone how popular and “important” she is. This nonsense is so typically Jacs and so laughable. (rhocomix – there is a comix somewhere there for you!)

Geez, Jacqueline no one cares how many followers you have – except you.

Just had a thought – I wonder if Jacs bought followers after she saw the contest Chris Stark told us about that Bravo is running “Which Bravoleb rocked your social world and got the most retweets from you this year?” and the fact that Teresa is a contender (As of right now, there are three comments and all three are very positive with votes to Teresa.) See Chris’ comment above for the link.

Because of her obsession with Twitter, the fact that Jacs is not included in this contest must really, really frost her cookes!!

Right yet again. I do not tweet or twitter but looking over Jacs tweets all I can say is – who does she care about? Bravo or her family? Answer Bravo – but I will continue to wish all the best for her son. Knowing this condition as I do – I consider Bravo guilty by association.

I’m glad that I am not the only one that noticed this. Your comments confirmed that I am not going crazy. 🙂 Good point on the contest. I did not think about the contest as a possibility for the jump in twitter followers. She reminds me of those people who keep track of their friends on Facebook just to prove she is more popular than most people think. Ugh, I’m sooo tired of her.

There are no words made to truely describe how sick & pathetic these people really are!! 1st they drain every single penny from their Signature Aparell Co and stoled millions and millions of dollars from all those poor people in thier company! 2nd they stoled from a well esstablished charity the Susan G Kolman breast cancer charity I think it was $18.000 dollars. 3rd they are useing their Autistic son Nick for a story line to stay relevent on a reality show instead of worrying about all the cameras and the comotion and drama around lil Nick and worry about his health and him regressing from all thats going on around him! Jacqueline and Chris Lurita should have steped down because of their son and his well being to try and get that child in a stable enviroment till they can see where he’s at and to give him all that one on one attention he so desperately needs right now!! And now 4th your telling us that not only are they thieves and horrible people and parents they are benifiting off Hurrican Sandy victims to now?!! So Bravo will bring them back cause they used these poor victims of Hurrican Sandy to give them a story line for Bravo’s reality show???!! Great job Bravo way to be there for these poor Hurrican Sandy victims who have lost everything they have worked thier fingers to the bone for SO YOU CAN HAVE A DAM STORY LINE FOR YOUR STUPID DAM REALITY SHOW ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!! REALLY BRAVO?! REALLY LAURITA/ MANZOS?! YOU PEOPLE ARE TRUELY PATHETIC AND TRUELY EVIL PEOPLE!! AS FOR BRAVO YOU HAVE TRUELY TURNED THIS FRANCHISE INTO NOTHING BUT FILLTH AND TRASH AND DARK AND EVIL!! I am so pissed off at these people for having the NERVE to treat Teresa Giudice the way they have for the last 2 seasons!! Bravo and the whole cast of RHONJ even her FAMILY have put this woman thur HELL talking about her FINANCES and her HUSBAND and her MARRIAGE and her DAUGHTERS and look what this TRASH has done all of them have CRUSIFIED her and these PATHETIC ass people are such dam HYPOCRITS they ALL have done 20x worse than Teresa or Joe Giudice have done and now it ALL coming out just how SICK and PATHETIC these SCUM BAGS really are and BRAVO is more DISGUSTING than all of them for showing this TRASH on NATIONAL TV!!!!

The timing of these tweets is very interesting as Jacqueline has barely tweeted anything about Sandy in quite awhile. Yet all of a sudden, shortly after this article was posted on FW, there she is again:

      Jacqueline Laurita@JacLaurita
“@Special Needs LA: Hurricane Sandy relief clothes&toys distribution2 special needs families in Newark monday! 7:20pm -13 Dec 12

Now this is great – she is getting it out there. However, she couldn’t just leave it there. Here we go!!!

      7:30pm – 13 Dec 12

She just couldn’t resist – couldn’t let the opportunity go by – “Hey everybody! Look what I am doing! Aren’t I the best?” Once again, she’s all about self-promotion – the HEART is NOT in the right place. Coincidence? Highly doubtful!!

  33. December 14, 2012 at 3:04 PM

I know that’s this is off topic…but how can someone just go to an elementary school in Newport, NJ and shoot a bunch of kids…the shooter’s mom was the one of those who are reported dead along with 18 children. Why? Why? And on top all of this the shooter decides to shoot himself like a coward! He should have know what it was like suffer and be tortured for his crimes. The U.S. government needs to seriously think about gun control or at least passing some laws regarding it because this is getting to serious. I can’t imagine those parents who cannot spend Christmas with their young one/s for the holidays. It is just sad and sick! What’s next? A shooting of newborn babies in a hospital (God forbid!).
Then the media decides to blame on his upbringing justifying that he is not crazy. I call fucking bullshit! No sensible person who go and kill a bunch of children who are completely innocent!

    • December 14, 2012 at 4:05 PM

It’s so incredibly sad! We have very tight gun control, certainly if people way to get a gun they’ll find a way but we don’t have these massacres. Why are some Americans so attached to weapons? I understand it’s constitutional. Maybe not the correct forum to discuss but I was just curious.

      • December 14, 2012 at 6:11 PM

Well that whole gun law needs to be revised because at the time it was made there were muskets used which take a minute or two to reload and it was usually for men of arms. Now guns can reload without even pulling the trigger! What’s even more absurd is that none of these gun stores that give these people the guns and ammunition do not even question their purpose of buying such things. I could walk into a gun store with a fire arm permit purchase 2 assault rifles, 2 AK47, 100 ammunition and I could give a good reasoning that I am a collector of guns or I like to hunt rare animals in my spare time or I could easily say I am going on 6 month hunting escapade with fellow hunters to hunt. And NO ONE would question me for all they know I could be planning the next massacre and then when it is completed those same guns stores would recall that they have no clue or idea that these killers would do with them.

        • December 14, 2012 at 6:50 PM

Our laws were tightened in 96 after the Port Arthur Massacre in which 35 were killed and 27 were wound. It’s just so sad that it takes tragedy to instigate change.

i believe these rights were put into our bill of rights for a reason, just like freedom of the press and the right to vote, a fair and speedy trial. When this country was founded it was needed. and i feel with the 1% having 90% we might need them again, so our neighbors don’t steal our children’s food. America is changing and the last thing we need is to lose rights. If one teacher had a gun how many babies would have been saved. All Americans should be aloud to carry and conceal. How far would it have got ? The crazy and the criminals will always have guns, we the people need to protect our children. It took the police around 5 minutes to get their, but if one teacher was carrying it would have change the out come. i send my deepest thoughts and prayers to these family’s. I really have no words for their pain. i’m so sorry.

And another thought can we please get people mental health help, guns are objects, people are the problem. we need real help for real sick people. if they take guns from us law abiding citizens what’s next. no band-aids lets help the sick and heal our nation oh and by the way i do not own a gun.

            • December 15, 2012 at 8:41 AM

If one teacher had a gun…no teacher that I know off would be carrying a gun to an elementary school in the first place. It is furtherest thing from your mind when you go to school everyday to see your students that maybe one day someone might come in and kill everyone. Besides the guy got the gun from where? His mother who purchased the guns legally. Why does she have guns in the first place? I don’t know maybe she was a collector or loves to hunt or is PROTECTING what she owns but this whole we must protect children from those kind of menace in society with the use of guns I just can’t agree. It is absolutely mind boggling how people say they need to protect what they own with the use of a gun when it is that same gun that would be causing senseless acts of violence upon others. Then everyone shouts how can that person do this and that person do that on innocent lives with the same guns that you would use to protect your children. I also send my deepest prayers to the family of these children in New Jersey as well as the ones in China.

i have several teachers in the family, and yes if they were allowed they would carry and conceal. in our schools we have cameras, and police. This has happened 62 times in 30 years why ? Should we blame a object or find out why our country is sick ? We need real solutions we need real mental health care. Crazy people will find a way (china ) we need to fix the problem. And i love America, but we are not perfect and this is so painful, we all want this to never happen again, we want something to make sure it wont ever happen again, i understand

The issue of gun control is passionate with valid viewpoints on both sides.

However, in today’s world, my grandchildren have to have arranged playdates and cannot go out and play in their own backyard without being supervised. Trick or treating is becoming a thing of the past with the fear of people harming children. It is bad enough we have to teach our very young about stranger danger which in and of itself is a serious issue, but now we are expected to add the layer that it may be possible their teacher will have to protect them with his/her body against bullets whizzing by their heads. Or the reality they or their classmates will die – death is a concept little ones don’t even comprehend at this tender age.

My daughter will be sitting down with her 4, 5, and 7 year old sons today to have a discussion about this issue so once again, that much more of their childhood innocence will be taken away. I fear most for my 5 year old kindergartener – he is a very sensitive, loving, and trusting little boy. How do you look into young, trusting eyes and explain this to a child? I resent very much my grandchildren have to hear about this madness at such a tender age and that my daughter has to even initiate this conversation in the first place.

I certainly do not believe the right to own firearms should be taken away – but the laws are archaic and need to be revised to fit with today’s world. When our forefathers wrote these laws in 1787, there was no way in hell they could have possibly predicted what the world would be like 225 years later. Restrictions, safety nets, and screenings need to be put into place. Law abiding citizens have nothing to worry about as they would have nothing to hide. We have all accepted airport screenings as a way of life for the safety and security of all of us. We have all heard guns don’t kill people; people kill people. That is a true statement – it takes a finger to pull a trigger. But allowing archaic and lax laws and regulations to stand and not do anything about what has been going on, continues to put those guns into the hands of people so much easier, whether it be criminals or mentally disturbed people. Allowing people to carry a concealed weapon is not the answer. Having more guns out there is not the answer – a teacher with a concealed gun in a classroom filled with little ones – a recipe for disaster.

While I believe a law abiding person has the right to own a gun I also believe we ALL have the right to live in a society where we feel safe walking down the street without the need to own a gun to protect ourselves just because someone doesn’t like the look on our face – that happens all the time. Impoverished neighborhoods have been living with gun fear for many, many years. With all of these incidents that have happened in the past and continue to happen, that right is being eroded away. Frankly, for me personally, that right WAS taken away a few months ago when a gunman shot a woman in the stomach at the supermarket in my community. The shooter has not been found and I do get a small pit in my stomach whenever I have to run errands because I am afraid. I live about 20 miles away from Newtown, CT and I live in what is considered a very “safe” town. I shouldn’t have to live that way – I have the right to live in this country with the peace of mind to be able to walk into a movie theater, a mall, a supermarket, a school, a park – anywhere – without fear of a confrontation with a gun.

Here is a link to a list of firearms-related deaths country by country. Out of 75 countries, the United States ranks #12 (note the countries on the list near where the US is ranked – most of them are poorly governed or third world). Norway ranks #37 and Great Britain #65.

This is just one resource – there are many, many others that show the United States is ranked high in comparison and contrast to other civilized, democratic countries. Obviously, the gun laws in this country, as they stand now, are not working. Something has got to be done to stop this insanity.

          • December 15, 2012 at 1:54 PM

You’re right Jeannie, gun control is one of those issues that divides people. The following is a look at gun control from the other viewpoint.

Tragedy doesn’t define Founders’ gun intentions

            By Derringer Dick CNHI
            July 26, 2012

In the aftermath of the tragic shootings in Colorado, both sides of the political aisle are fighting a raging online battle over the ever-lurking issue of gun control. As always, gun-control advocates are arguing for stricter gun laws, while pro-gun rights advocates are advocating for looser gun laws. The pro-gun debaters posit how many lives may have been saved had a single person inside the Aurora movie theatre been carrying a firearm, while their opponents argue that the return fire would have killed more people.

There are plenty of statistics to fuel the arguments. In some cases, outlawing guns leads to equally gruesome if less efficient murders; in many others, it leads to rampant lawlessness and an open flaunting of military-grade hardware.

Some countries with harsh gun restrictions, such as Mexico, are now practically in a state of civil war, as drug runners and other outlaws stare down the police. The disarmed citizens merely try to stay out of the way.

But when we engage in arguments about how effective gun control is, we often forget the real point of our right to keep and bear arms, as intended by our founding fathers, and enshrined in the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. That is not to say that those arguments have no place, but sometimes they eclipse the real point of the right to keep and bear arms. I am sure the Founding Fathers were all proponents of the right to defend one’s house and home from thieves, murderers and the like. But one must remember that the weapons of the day were not the efficient killing machines of today’s world. Even the military carried bayonets as a secondary weapon because one man with a musket would easily be defeated by two men with tomahawks.

Simply put, the Founding Fathers did not institute the right to keep and bear arms because of their fears of lone, deranged gunmen.

Rather, the Founding Fathers instituted the right to keep and bear arms because of their fear of tyrannical oppression. Remember, the opening shots of the Revolutionary War were fired at Lexington to stop the seizure of military supplies by British Redcoats.

Today, it is easy for us to believe that such an amendment is out of date. Today, we have the world’s most formidable military, and our security in that fact often causes us to forget that the Americans who fought at Lexington were also protected by the world’s most formidable military: The armed forces of Britannia. Remember, the American Revolution was not fought against a foreign invader, but against the colonial’s own government.

Today, it is hard for us to imagine our own government could turn against us. But is has happened countless times the world over, and disarmament of the people often serves as a prelude to murder on a massive scale. We should not, in our arrogance, dream that we are somehow superior to the Germans who fell for Hitler’s ideological rants, or the Communists who aided Stalin as he slaughtered Ukrainians by famine. We are all human, and what has happened once in other parts of the world may happen again here.

Thomas Jefferson once wrote “I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than those attending too small a degree of it.”

Far be it from me to characterize any loss of human life as an “inconvenience,” yet the costs of those dead in gun violence in the United States pales before the specter of those killed by their own government after willingly surrendering their arms. And when the government ceases to obey the law, the only law it recognizes is force. To quote Mao, “power grows out of the barrel of a gun.” Chairman Mao, probably the worst murderer of the century, knew exactly what he was talking about.

That is why gun ownership must persist. As beneficial as it might seem to rid the streets of guns, it only opens the door for a worse evil. Until the day that mankind’s worst enemy, human nature, has been conquered, each one of us must do our duty to ensure that power is not concentrated in the hands of a few.

            • Jeannie5233
              December 15, 2012 at 3:00 PM

This article is well written, thought out and makes all the sense in the world to me as it makes a very valid point and I agree with it fundamentally. This country was founded on the principles that all men are created equally and we are entitled to certain inalienable rights. I am not opposed to people owning firearms. That is their right. If law abiding people feel they need to own a gun to protect their property, their livelihood, and themselves, without question, they should.

But it is my right, as a law abiding citizen, to live my life without fear and that is what upsets me personally. My rights are being undermined, not by these people who abide by the law but by the ones who take advantage of those very laws. The problem is not the people, for the most part – the problem is the law, and how it stands today. I would like to believe, perhaps naively, that our elected officials could come together with the great wisdom our forefathers had, and come up with a solution to the devastating problem this country has; i.e. the turning on our own with no provocation.

I love that statement “Until the day that mankind’s worst enemy, human nature, has been conquered, each one of us must do our duty to ensure that power is not concentrated in the hands of a few.” It is very profound and it’s message should be heeded. The very same could be said, also, that each one of us must do our duty to ensure our fellow man is protected from that enemy as well; even if that means from ourselves. We do not live in a utopian world – and there are no perfect answers – I certainly don’t have them. I just know that the killing of innocent people has to stop.

i agree with both of you, and how well written, wish i could state my case that well. I feel with talks like this some compromise could happen. If we don’t understand why people are killing no law will stop it. We need to look at the mental health of our people and the use of medications. I read somewhere that all of these had one thing in common anti-psycotic meds. on the warnings it says may cause suicide or worse. Why are so many taking these

                • December 15, 2012 at 8:12 PM

You make excellent points as always Jeannie. Thanks for bringing up the topic. And I agree there has to be some compromise.

Americans have always had guns, so what has changed in recent years that is contributing to mass shootings? Anonymous asked some good questions: what part has mental health issues, anti-psych meds, etc. played in the recent spike in mass shootings?

“According to ABC News, Adam Lanza, the alleged shooter, has been labeled as having ‘mental illness’ and a ‘personality disorder.’ These are precisely the words typically heard in a person who is being ‘treated’ with mind-altering psychiatric drugs. The Columbine High School shooters were, of course, on psychiatric drugs at the time they shot their classmates in 1999. Suicidal tendencies and violent, destructive thoughts are some of the admitted behavioral side effects of mind-altering prescription medications. No gun can, by itself, shoot anyone. It must be triggered by a person who makes a decision to use it. And while people like NY Mayor Bloomberg are predictably trying to exploit the deaths of these children to call for guns to be stripped from all law abiding citizens who have done nothing wrong whatsoever, nobody calls for medication control.” – Natural News, http://www.naturalnews.com/038353_gun_control_psychiatric_drugs_Adam_Lanza.html

Here is a good article on the subject:

I can see where anti-psych meds, or other meds for that matter, could play a role in the increased gun violence in this country. But my question is this, based on my and my husband’s experience working in the pharmaceutical industry both domestically and internationally, most drugs are approved in Europe well before they are approved in the United States, even years in some cases. In fact, many drugs and procedures that can not and will not gain approval here in the U.S., but are widel acceptabel and approved as legitimate treatment throughout the world. These anti-psych meds are available to these countries as well. Why hasn’t their gun violence increased?

Today, it seems so many children, adolescents and young adults are just prescribed a pill or some type of medication to cure all that ails them without the time taken to dig deeper – many conditions can be treated alternatively whether it be physical, mentally, or emotional. You and Anonymous do bring up a valid point – it is obvious a legitimate connection is already being made to the latest spate of shootings. These articles help to confirm that. But that connection is not the end all and be all of the problem. It is only part of a very large, complicated issue that needs to be addressed.

As you and I both said, this issue of gun control can be divisive and passionate. It is a complicated matter with many facets and layers that need to be peeled back, exposed and then put back together – better, and stronger than ever with proper resolution for all.

On such a terrible occasion, thank you, Fame, for the opportunity to express viewpoints and concerns. Your thoughts and prayers posted above brought me to tears when I read them. I know we all will continue to keep these beautiful souls in our hearts and prayers in the difficult days ahead. I hope the teachers who gave their lives for these students are given their due as well – they are the guardian angels of the littlest angels. God bless them all and their families.

Thank you so much for sharing your perspectives with me on such a polarising subject. Whilst our countries are so very similar, there are still some subtle differences both culturally and embedded in the national psyche.

From an outsider, it’s a no brainer. We still have guns, we have a large yet dwindling farming sector and we still have gun crime, but we don’t have a gun store down the road. Acquisition and registration is stringent.

I really feel for yet more families having to deal with such an unnecessary loss and for the children who’ll bear the scars for who knows how many years to come.

Good point Sackem about not having a gun store down the road.

Hello everyone! Hope you all are enjoying your holiday encroachment. I have been watching the blog and responding every now and then. I have to say one thing. When my nephew was teetering on life and death and my brother asked me to ask everyone for prayers I went to Tre as she is such a family person with such a following and asked her for a shout out for prayers, and got no response whatsoever. I watched her twitter account, and FB as she retweeted birthdays and congratulations and waited for anything that would get the word out to pray for Baby Robert. To no avail. What this taught me is it’s just a program. I felt like a total idiot! I won’t be watching this year any Bravo programs because at this point I think it’s just a game to get us all to speak and watch. I was a huge Tre fan. I still feel the same way about the Gorgas, Lauritas, Manzos that won’t change.(ugh) I guess I just realized that all of these people are fame whores not just the ones I don’t like and none of them give a rat’s ass about any of us. They are all there to collect a paycheck. They are all just doing their jobs. The one entity I can say is to blame for all of the controversy is Bravo! They played me like a fiddle. No more. Life is too precious to waste it on uncaring people like this. We all have families and friends who love, and care about us. They are the ones I will now give that hour of attention. NOT RHWNJ!

DD I have been through your pain and understand how your feel. It is just a “show” and at one time in my life it totally comsumed me. Not any longer. Reading all the blogs and knowing the money troubles and family troubles all of these housewives are going through, has made me realize how wonderful my family and friends are. All this has made me love my life more.

These women are so fake they all wear a mask and show us what they want us to belive about them and never the TRUTH!! Caroline, Jacqueline, Melisssa and Kathy are so so fake and so decitful and they live behind this mask and only reveal what they want us to see and never the truth! That’s why I am so glad that Fame started this blog cause if it wasnt for this site and I have to give Roxy credit to her sight shows these people for who they are to. But this is my favorite site Fame does a great job at this blog and getting the truth out about these women who are so desperately trying to live behind their masks of decite. They never get their TRUTH put on BLAST by bravo only Teresa Giudice get that treatment if it wasn’t for Fame we would be still thinking Caroline is mother Teresa! I have never fell for these women lies and I dont understand why Bravo has a blanket over these women but have totally made Teresa look so bad. Thank you so much for all the time you spend on looking all this stuff up and all the reserching every story and making sure your sources are ligit that’s what makes you and your blog in my opinion the best keep up the awesome work!!!
