‘On Display’, perhaps Melissa’s most popular song, sold 8,000 copies as if September 14, 2011 (she has since re-released it twice, once as a ‘radio remix’ and then as an ‘extended remix’ — see below). I’m not sure how much of the profit is shared with iTunes and whoever else, but at 99 cents each, Melissa didn’t make much off of that one [Trixy-Lou, June 15, 2012, Bravo Message Board].

So Melissa sold out her husband’s family (take note it is not her family that is being destroyed) for a $65,000 season 4 Bravo salary (can’t confirm this; just was posted here in a comment without a link; Joe’s salary was $45,000 for season 4), and what looks like less than $10,000 netted from iTunes sales for her four songs.
Melissa has stated many times on Twitter and in interviews that her songs have made it to #4 on the iTunes charts, but that is a lie. And she made these claims before releasing her best selling iTunes song, ‘I Just Wanna’, featuring Santino Noir (who wrote the song). She may have reached a better ranking with the dance/pop category of iTunes, but that would have been temporary and probably helped by purchases from Joe Gorga and other family members so that the song would spike on the charts. Melissa Gorga was interviewed in June 2011 by Lisa New England at HubPages. She asked Melissa to tell her more about her “singing career, future plans, anything you would like my readers to know or promote about yourself.” Melissa indicated that she had four singles she would be releasing, so she had them ready well before her first season on RHONJ. Melissa said:
“I have four singles that I will be releasing that are Pop/Dance. I am really proud of each song and worked so hard on making them. I am just finishing up my web site melissagorga.co and I will be blogging on there once a week, listing my appearances, posting pictures, and when my music is ready you will be able to purchase my songs there. The worst song I have ever heard. I immediately regretted giving her a “click” by watching the first 10 seconds. She look ridiculous, trying to be something she’s not – she’s a a good 10 years older than target audience and it shows.
Sackem, I have never a full song of Melissa’s, I would never give her the click. But, I googled the lyrics for On Display the other day… I was dying! Is she five?

Sorry, this just looks like a bad JLo impersonation. Ironically, she keeps singing lyrics about wanting to dance, but she is not really dancing in the video. Melissa appears to lack the rhythm that comes naturally to some. It seems too forced and weak. Seriously, Gia has better dance moves.
I can see she’s trying so hard to be a star and really wants this, but she doesn’t have anywhere close to what it takes. She’s not gifted. Imagine Melissa at an American Idol tryout. Do you think they would even let her compete? Not a chance.

When Melissa called into Ryan Seacrest’s show she gushed that she felt she had a hit here! Honestly, in all fairness, I have heard worse. However, it is heavily autotuned – once again – and the dance moves are very amateur. She sure likes to flip her hair alot and the “sultry” looks into the camera are just way over the top. There is absolutely a recurring theme in all of her songs – between ON DISPLAY, ROCKSTAR, and now this – she is so narcisstic – amazing.

Well, I sure don’t know what list she’s referring to because I just went to iTunes and it’s not there and it’s not on the Billboard Top 100 either.

IMO this song is SUCH a ripoff of JLO’s “I wanna dance” it’s ridiculous! MeHo cannot dance or sing anything like JLO & never will. She truly disgusts me cuz the smirk on her face is SO telling; she has absolutely zero problem with a family (Teresa/Joe) being torn apart- not to mention their parents obviously feeling the tension. Feel sad for Gorga family (orig. family) that this gold-digger is taking such pleasure in all this destruction.

Oh please forgive me for what I am about to admit. I like her songs. I wouldn’t pay for them because they’re not really that damn good but I do like the songs. As far as auto-tune, most, if not all, singers use auto-tune. There’s just no way singers today can pitch out those sounds without help. It’s just not possible. Frankly, the real song writers and singers are a thing of the past. No more Queen, Styx, Led Zeppelin, etc. They were the real deal and they really were talented. Hell, nowadays I’m hearing the same music being used in several songs, just different words. It’s a shame how dumb and easy it is to please people nowadays. I never thought the day would come that people would ‘settle’ for fake. I never thought the day would come that the music industry would be replaced by intelligent, talented artists for lip-syncing, non talented, wannabes who need all the auto-tuning they can get. I like Melissa’s songs but she can’t sing. She’s an idiot and if the real artist of the day were around, they would kick her ass to the curb.
Go back to stripping and leave the music to a real artist.
Celine Dion… she does not use no auto tune, along with others. She can hit the notes. The difference is she is a singer, she practice and has talent. She did not wake up one morning in her 30′s and say I want to be a singer, her husband put a studio in the house and etc… It is the same thing as you can led a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. You can have all the equipment in the house but it does not make you a singer. You are correct, she is not a real artist.
While there are some people out there who don’t use auto tune (Celine Dion, Alicia Keys, Beyonce (I THINK, I’m not sure), I do get what you’re saying. A lot of pop stars DO use auto tune, and it’s a shame that people with real talent don’t get the credit that they deserve, and try so hard to get noticed, while meanwhile, society hands success to people like Melissa Gorga, Kim Zolciak, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus (But to be fair, she doesn’t really have a career anymore), and God knows how many other pop stars that make more money than any of us can even think of.
But to be fair to Melissa, out of all the Housewives that have made singles, her singles are the least awful. “On Display” is okay, but it’s gold compared to any of LuAnn’s singles. “I Just Wanna” is decent, but it’s nothing compared to Gretchen’s music. The only single of Melissa’s I can say is genuinely awful is “Rockstar”, because it’s so bland it’s almost painful. Melissa’s songs are the farthest from the worst songs ever produced.
singers today can pitch out these notes just as well as those of yesteryear. Autotune has permitted a bunch of no talented hacks to join the business. The problem with Melissa gorga is that she has no talent as a singer or a dancer. She looks ridiculous even trying to.
I couldn’t even get through it. Once I heard the rubber/glue line I clicked stop. The auto tune doesnt even make it bearable.

God help me but I really do love the song. Not so much for her singing — she sounds as though she’s talking rather than singing and autotune tends to get on my nerves but I do enjoy the tune and Santino’s rapping. He makes the song. It’s a fun, dance tune but definitely not hit material… but a guilty pleasure for me nonetheless.
As for the video though, it’s pretty much horrible. She looks stiff and her face is always contorted into an angry expression. I don’t know who did the makeup and styling but it’s so trashy and so dated. Haaate the video. But do love the song… surprisingly enough because I can’t stand any of her other tracks.

I love how Santino actually uses his real voice and when it switches to Missy she is auto-tuned to all get out. I think she has an adequate singing voice without it and if she actually had some voice lessons, she might be a good singer for the church choir–but not for the big time.

Recently met Teresa at a signing for Faballini(which is very good by the way) I found Teresa to be a lovely person, very personable and really engaged my daughter. She seems to be a wonderful person and is my favorite, which I made sure she knew so that she knew her fans supported her. The rest of them should take lessons from her on how to treat people!
I don’t like the person singing so it is difficult to be judge without bias…but bottom line is if you don’t like the performer as a person then you don’t like the music…at least that’s how I feel.
I watched. It’s not bad but I think it’s pretty funny that she actually did this all for us… her “haters” and we couldn’t care less. I’m just happy that we must really bug her for her to have thought this much about us. I would like to know how she can drown us out with the music if we’re not even going to be listening.
